About this item

  • Never go beyond its capabilities. Try to stay 10 to 15% below what the rate is for
  • 12-volt 5-prong relay. Excellent water-repellent and dustproof ability, but not using it in water
  • Be careful when plugging the relay into the socket. If you push hard, you will bend the female connector
  • Primary leads use 12 a.w.g tinned copper wire. Coil leads use 16 a.w.g
  • SPDT relay: it has both normally open and normally closed terminals, terminal 87A is powered when the relay is inactive and switches the power to terminal 87 when the relay is activated

Product Description

12v relay

  1. The upgraded relay terminals will bring more stable performance. Few sellers are willing to make such improvements, and we are one of them.
  2. Use longer 12+16 gauge tinned copper wire. It is more corrosion and oxidation resistant compared to bare copper wire.
  3. We use high-quality rubber seals with excellent waterproof and dustproof performance.

I purchased the 40/30 AMP 12V DC Waterproof Relay and Harness as a replacement for a faulty one in my RV, and I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance. This is a relay that gets used almost daily, and it's held up remarkably well. The operation has been flawless, with no glitches or malfunctions to report. It's clear that this product was designed with durability and reliability in mind.A standout feature of this relay and harness is its waterproof quality. It's installed in the wet bay of my RV, a location that can often be problematic for electronic components. However, the Waterproof Relay and Harness has faced no such issues. This feature gives me confidence that it will outlast the original relay, which wasn't waterproof and failed prematurely. If you're in need of a durable and waterproof relay and harness, I highly recommend this one.

This is a premium relay. It has a cover with a very waterproof housing and is epoxy filled with clear colored wires per function ... A much better choice than a plain relay for any application outdoors, under a hood, on a motorcycle or any other area where it may be subject to water or dampness etc .I used on a motorcycle under the faring to control fog lights ... It will likely be drenched during any rides in the rain and if I had used a standard automotive relay I would never have been able to make it as waterproof as this is with heat shrink tubing etc etc ...Highly recommend ...

Worked out great and was a needed part for the remote start kit I installed.

Time will tell if it's durable and the innards are up-to-spec, but my overall impression of this relay is extremely positive. Firstly, it doesn't feel cheap. It has a good weight and feels extremely heavy duty, with very thick plastic and a grommet that is so tight I struggled to get the two halves together (do it before wiring and/or installing or you'll almost surely have to take it back out). I seriously doubt I could get them apart. In addition to that I was surprised to see that the wire was all solid copper strands and what appears to be 12 gauge. I know it states that in the title/description, but to be honest I didn't actually expect it. Typically when corners are cut, cheap wiring is a very common place to do it. Given the HD feel, solid copper wires, and what appears to be solid waterproofing, I have no reason to believe they skimped on the inside. Also on a side note I appreciate the wiring diagrams in the item description. I have zero auto electrical knowledge but wanted to wire fog lamps up in parallel to my headlights but didn't want the lights drawing power from my headlight switch, so I T'd the power of this relay off the headlight lead and now only the relay draws power from it, as opposed to both fog bulbs. It's much much safer and should prolong the life of an expensive 45-year-old light switch.I will almost surely buy another of these when I add another external accessory.

I installed this relay under the hood of a Jeep JK 4 months ago. So far it hasn't had any issues in terms of operation. Relay is waterproof, and seems pretty well made. My only concern with this product has to do with the attached wires. They are pure copper, not CCA so that's nice. However, the PVC insulation used on these wires seems pretty cheap. Since the relay is waterproof, it's a safe bet many people will be installing this under the hood of a vehicle, or exposed to the outdoor elements. I worry that over many heat cycles or prolonged weather exposure the cheap PVC insulation on these wires will start to deteriorate. Would have been better to use TXL or GXL insulation on these wires. Would certainly be more appropriate given the application this relay is supposedly designed for.

This is a very well built unit that is easy to work with. A couple of things to keep in mind when you wire it.First, in an earlier review a user commented that the plug was hard to plug into the relay. He is correct but solution is simple. Add a drop of dielectric grease to each terminal. Two things happen. You increase the water resistance and two your plug will glide together easily.Second point. I had two items I wanted to power from the relay. Hence I bought the five wire with two outputs. Terminal 87 and 87a. Unfortunately I learned something. Terminal 87 is on with the relay triggered as advertised. Terminal 87A however is opposite. It is “hot” when relay is off. It was an easy fix but this is where a wiring diagram would have been nice. FYI. Terminal 30 is fused power. 86 is the trigger and 85 the ground.

I added a bunch of powered accessories to my truck. Didn't want them running when the ignition was off. Used this to run power to them when the ignition was on. Got about 25 amps running through it a peak use. Works great and it is not loud when coming on.
