These elastic bands are adjustable and have metal clips with textured tips so as not to ruin the fabric.I did order these for the ironing board cover as a temporary fix until I get a new one. I appreciate that these straps are adjustable to make them longer but not able to make them smaller. So, for the narrow rounded end of the cover I had to twist the strap repeatedly to make it small enough. Keep in mind you can't put anything (these bands or something else) because the ironing board opens and closes with the leg sliding. Ant straps would get in the way. I was able to put the rest of the straps at the wide end. In the long run, these really didn't work for the ironing board as the cover is bunched and doesn't lay flat and smooth. I still gave 3 stars because they would work well for other items including the stretched corners of a fitted sheet or to hang delicates on a hanger to dry.

All the straps have plastic grippers on both ends. I like the grippers, they really grip my thin cover. I don't have a thicker cover to try them with right now but I will update this when I do.The straps are all the same length. I wish one was shorter for the narrow end of the board. I put the short end on at an angle, (picture 1) but it makes it hard to close the board to store it. I sew, so I will probably cut that one shorter and sew over the new end several times with my machine so it won't come undone. That is how these are sewn tightly.I have a standard board, but there is plenty of length available so they should fit a wide board. I only loosened them a few inches to use on my board and then tigthened them almost all the way. Just slide the plastic slide on the elastic. I just don't have a wide board to try it on. I will update this if that changes. There weren't any instructions included. I didn't need any as I have seen this style of clip before. For those who haven't, pull up gently on the rounded end of the clip is a movable flange. See picture 3. Place the board cover between the 2 lower pieces with the white plastic grippers and then push the flange( lock) back down. Tighten the strap by moving the slide back until it's tight. Repeat until all straps are on. You're done.
