The metal part looks strong enough to handle a medium duty job. The wood handles in exchange are made from soft wood not really suitable for the job.If I would have the opportunity to have it in hand before purchasing I wouldn't buy it.Now I have to deal with the shortcoming and eventually replace the handles.

Bolts fell out after 5 minutes of use ! Wooden handles are soft and not sturdy

One of the wooden handles broke the first time I put it in the dirt. Yup. 10 seconds and it snapped in half. The metal parts seem to be of good quality.

Do not waste your time on this! It is flimsy, bends and flexes, and will have you cussing when you are trying to dig a hole with it! A Craftsman post hole digger from Lowes only costs about $20 more and is a world of difference!

It's a good value. But it did break. I'll buy another. And think of reinforcing handles for the next one
