Great for trex. Used with cortex screws. Just be sure to drill from back side of trex!

Saves money for our company to use this tool instead of purchasing bags of plugs that get lost or unused.

First plug measured 0.236, varied, cut medium speed, slow feed. Overheated.Last plug measured 0.246 consistent circular, cut medium speed. Clamped very solid, cut 1/3 then backed out drill to clear chips and blow off, cut another 2/3 and backed out drill, then the the last cut.Chip clearance is poor, over heard and messes up cut. Also the but is not well centered, a solid clamp is needed. Made it work.

Used this to hide screws on Trex decking perimeter boards. Drilled a 1/4" hole 3/8" deep, installed screw, cut a matching plug with this bit, and hammered it in. Very clean look.

As another review mentioned, this plug cutter does not produce true 1/4" plugs. I cut a test plug and found that it was too small for a 1/4" hole, with a loose fit in the hole and lots of wiggle room. To test the plug size I drilled two more holes at 15/64" and 7/32". The plug wouldn't fit in the 7/32" hole but fit perfectly in the 15/64" - a nice and snug press-fit. It seems to be a quality cutter - I did my tests at 600 RPM on a drill press, working slowly, and the cut was nice and clean.3 stars because this is a good plug cutter at 15/64" but won't work for 1/4" applications. Also because the one I received was clearly opened and returned, but I am assuming that was someone who also found that this wouldn't work for 1/4" plugs after a couple of tries.

I bought this plug cutter to plug 1/4" holes to hide screws in picture frames. No matter what bit the hole is drilled with (I tried DeWalt and Craftsman 1/4" bits, and a Freud 1/4" forstner bit), the plugs cut by this tool were too small, and wobbled around in the hole. The gap was much bigger than I found acceptable (probably between 1/32 and 1/64" all the way around). I got a different plug cutter locally, and the plugs fit perfectly in the holes I had drilled. Tight enough that I don't need any glue to hold them in place, in fact.If you don't need the plugs to cover a hole tightly, this plug cutter will work fine. It's sturdy, cuts quickly, and is easy to get plugs out of if they come loose and stick in the bit.
