Drill and Tap Packs, include 1/4-inch - 20 Tap + No. 7 Drill. Black oxide finish on all high carbon steel Hanson taps with semi-porous matte surface that causes cutting oil to cling, carrying the oil into the cut more effectively, thus reducing the drive torque required and lowering cutting temperatures. Oxide surface-coating also reduces tendency for chips to weld to the Tap, resulting in lower cutting temperatures and freer chip flow to increase tool life. Irwin tools are made of only the finest materials, manufactured to exacting tolerances.

The tool is and does exactly what it says. Make sure to take your time and use cutting oil if you have some.

I don't often write reviews but this 2 piece tool is very good quality. I really needed a little bigger size, (thats on me) but this will work. Just take your time, oil the holes and works like a charm.

Project required a lot of drilling into black pipe. Probably didn't need the second tap but was good to have a backup just in case. Bolts installed ran smoothly into the new threads. Good combo.Items arrived in new packaging and were as advertised.

I use these to help extract stuck cases when reading, I broke the original after 2 uses. The Irwin branded one has lasted much longer!

I bought this because I really need the 1/4 - 20 NC tap as it's the standard camera tripod screw size. However, Irwin only offers this kit with a drill bit or a 3-pack of taps. I don't need 3 taps (I'm tapping plastic or aluminum) so really just needed one tap. However, this kit was the best value so I guess I get a 'free' drill bit.
