I bought this set of pliers as a Christmas gift for my son, who was happy to get a good replacement for his rusty old pliers! These are good general purpose pliers. All work well with one exception. The "channel locks" teeth are such that they don't grip small thins (stuck wood screws, etc) well and slip in small round objects like 1/2 pipe.

I bought this for her as she's in her first apartment. She wanted a set of tools and I bought her what I felt I would have loved to have in my first apartment. Of course with about 6 more tools to go with them. You do not want to buy junk, and these are far from it . They have a good feel . No slipping and good construction. Shes happy and so will you be.

The pliers open and close without catching or sticking, I use them for electrical work so I require a bit of precision with my pliers and they lived up to my standards.The only thing I will say is the needle-nose pliers are too big for my tastes, but that is only due to me using them in their incorrect application, I would recommend buying a smaller one if you're in the same boat as me.They are quite sturdy too, we all use pliers as hammers from time to time, and mine have survived thus far without being ruined.

developed rust within 4 weeks and grip on needle nose pliers is terrible. Do not recommend. Not the usual Irwin quality
