When doing hundreds of holes, my drivers tend to drop the pre-drill bit every 20 holes or so. I wanted at least one driver with a keyed chuck. This fits perfectly.It is heavier, and did change the balance a bit.Jacob's is an established name with quality products. No real comments about that.

I bought this to replace the Hitachi chuck which came on my new cordless drill. The original chuck was keyless, but no matter what I did the darn thing kept slipping. So I bought this chuck and could not be happier. The construction is top notch, very smooth operation. I did give up the convenience of the keyless feature, but have absolutely no regrets. This chuck was worth every penny and I might even replace the chuck on my Delta floor drill press, which has always been hard to rotate by hand.

Used this to replace old metal heavy duty Chraftsman drill chuck, I've been fighting g with for years, as no key worked properly. Installed easily using impact drill to remove old chuck. Works great with smooth action.

I used it in a 1/2" drill with a 7/16 hex bit (1-1/2" Forstner) The bit fell out of chuck, tried to tighten again and it fell out again. Since the drill would still work, I kept using it annoyed that the bit would come out whenever I backed the drill out. When I was done, I tried to tighten the chuck down on a 1/4" bit and the jaws would not move. I tried rotating the ring back and forth and got one of the three jaws to move, but the other two do not.

I don't write review , but this deserves it , first off I'm tired of all the imported junk these days .. I have a dewalt angle drill which I really like , keyless chuck which has been junk since day one , I'm drilling hard metal not pine .. Constantly slips , I killed it one day trying to tighten it with a channel lock , found this on Amazon . Overnighted it. Fits perfect it's 1/2 X1/2 , made in USA , worth every penny . Now I have a drill like I used to 25 years Ago when manufacturers took pride in their products . Thanks Jacobs

The keyless chuck I had before would never hold a drill securely enough to keep from spinning, especially when the drill was just starting to poke through at the far side. Granted, I work mainly in heavy steel and I work my tools hard but the old chuck was such a CONSTANT source of frustration. Now, this new one works so well that I no longer dread drilling holes. My only negative is that I waited so long before buying this. What a HUGE improvement!! A great product!!

That is a BIG upgade to my Bosch Hammerdrill ! The original chuck wasnt super good, this one bit and hold very well!
