Construction Lag Screw

#14 x 1-1/2" Construction Lag Screws

Screw engineering specs:

  • Average shear strength of #14 shank—2171 lbs
  • Average pull-out strength—1472 lbs (screw pull-out is calculated with a 3" length screw in the wood species: yellow pine.)
  • Triple Coating: 1200-hour corrosion resistance in both ACQ and salt spray conditions.

Construction Lag Screw

#14 x 1-1/2" Construction Lag Screws

Use T25 Driver Bit

Modified truss head screw (1/2" head diameter) has better compression that forces deep, wide, sharp screw threads.

Used these to attach Simson 8" truss anchors to a 2x8 ledger beam. Very strong

I knew these were not 1/4" diameter (its a t25 head) but I needed the length and i'm happy with the purchase. Great screws to screw 2 4x4 together. Very smooth insertion and glides right into pressure treated wood well. T25 prevents any stripping and grips well. I do use 1/4 diameter screws but they are from spax which is also a great quality screw. Will be buying more and stocking up here and there so I have a bunch on hand for when I need them (and when the prices increase). Also have the 3” length as well. The only caveat is the mentioning of the T25. It really should have been a T30 for anything longer than 4”. It’s quite a small head for 6”. I broke the tip off a Dewalt bit. Trying a Bosch bit. Hope it’s a lot tougher. I generally use T25, T30, T40. Look at the difference in shear size of the spax t30 head let alone the width of the washer head - wow!9/19/24. I have not gone through a box of 3” yet (#230 ish screws) and the Bosch T25 has shattered. Way more durable than the previous dewalt T25. I’m happy. Can’t complain with what’s given. Make sure to have extra T25 bits guys. I’ll break all the Bosch T25 bits before I try another brand. Update when necessary.

Nice strong connection. Excellent Torx heads did not round out. Points are on the dull side, takes quite a bit of effort to get them to dig in and bite. This was issue when I was sistering in ceiling joists as I was on a ladder with the driver above my head. Also found that using the impact driver would cause the screw to spin after bottoming out. The threads aren’t aggressive enough and end up stripping out the wood. Using the drill/driver avoided this this and they grabbed strong.

I’ve been using these screws to hold 2” x 6” and 2” x 8” beams up in my barn for my barn restoration project. They are very strong lag screws. I like the star bit screw head, it allows me to maximize the pressure I put on the screw without it sliding off. Its also great if I need to take the screw back out due to a mistake. The built in washer on this screw works great for pulling heavy beams tight together, whereas regular screws without built in washers just penetrates the wood and doesn’t pull it as tight. These screws have been a lifesaver for me! I have bought many of these screws!

I was looking for Fasteners to replace Headloks. They have another model that is a direct replacement for headlok at a much more reasonable price. The screws are awesome. I do not have to pre-drill in most applications. Very happy and the T 25 head is very strong. Surprisingly for such an aggressive screw.I have since used my 500 original screws and have re-purchased. These are amazing. Do not hesitate to purchase.

I used these screws on the first of a series of flip-top tool-carts I am building, with large caster-wheels on their legs (due to the power-tool weights involved). They secured the caster plates very well, needed no pre-drilling prior to insertion, and the Torx washer-head on the screw engaged the caster mounting plates perfectly. I like the ant-corrosion finish on them, since my stuff gets stored in a dry but unheated shop-space.

Very strong screws for attaching wood rails to posts. Much less expensive than buying at retailer.
