My C300 was making a loud whining noise when the engine was cold started in the morning.. but the noise would go away in a minute or so. One day the sound stopped but the check engine light came on. Turns out it was the air pump.Some videos on the internet suggest connecting the pump directly to the battery to test it out.. I'd recommend against it.. if the pump has seized, it will draw a large current and you'll get a huge spark. Best is to check the 40Amp fuse for the pump and if it is blown, replace it first. A seized pump will likely blow the fuse right away.. that's what happened in my case.Turns out this air pump is one of the easiest things to replace on a Mercedes C300 - literally took me 30 minutes - but you do need a Torx 30 bit and a couple of different lengths of extensions. Also, be _extremely_ careful when loosening the screws as you don't want them dropping into the engine compartment because then you'll have to jack up your car and remove the bottom plastic cover to get them back!All in all - worked well and saved what would most certainly have been a $500 project at the dealer.

So far so good. The other air pump failed I think because of a bad EGR valve and it had a lot of moisture in it.

Do not waste money. it lasted 2 days. Was initially happy to see the code went away, did not even put 300km and it blew the same code again. New Bosch pump solved the issue for good.

With In 3 days it stopped working, my engline light flashing back again I searched a lot in Amazon based on reviews I bought it but my analysis went in vain. Again I need go to mechanic to replace with another one.
