These are a nice alternative to the huge 72 space models they sell. I usually only start 4 to 8 seeds so this is perfect for my needs. My seeds popped within a day this season.

Let me start off being completely honest. I have a black thumb, I can kill an artificial plant. When I got this product, the seeds grew quickly. Oh I was happy. Something I planted grew. I followed the instructions and moved it outside when ready to let the seedlings get used to the outdoors I guess. Then came time to plant them. They died almost instantly. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it had nothing to do with the product. I recommend it to anybody that has any color thumb but if you can kill an artificial plant like I can, you might want to buy your produce already grown

What I like the most about these is that once you plant the seeds (following the directions), you do not need to water, or worry over them until the seeds sprout. Roots grow easily out of the outer fabric so transplanting is not a shock to the seedling, no roots get damaged. The plastic is rather flimsy. For starting seeds it works fine, I have reused the plastic containers three or four times now.Be aware that these are not outdoor containers, the wind will easily blow the tops away. Inside they work great.

I have two of these, and through the growing season they house several different batches of seedlings (you can buy refills of the little expanding peat pellets). The cover holds moisture in until germination, then it pops right off to let the seedlings have the room they need to grow.I don't like the larger cell-count flats because i'm a home gardener, i don't have enough space for 50 or 100 plants that should all be planted at the same time. With these smaller ones i can have my tomato seedlings growing in the first one while waiting for my peppers to germinate, then when the tomatoes are ready to be up-potted, i can use that flat for a new batch (i'm going to try starting my corn indoors this year, we'll see what happens) to germinate while the peppers get upgraded from covered to uncovered. The only thing i dislike about this new design is that it's completely symmetrical. The older version had a hole in the plastic at one side so retail vendors could hang it on a peg, which meant my little diagram of what was planted where had a natural marker. Now, i'm left cutting a notch out of each side so i know which is the 'top' of the flat to match the top of my chart.

Smashed when it arrived!... Made from very flimsy plastic. Not bad for the price though and it's a temporary thing anyway. Reshaped it best I could, and made it work. 🙂ðŸ‘
