Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and sding the end of the lens. Also, since the end of the lens is extended and the hood features a durable anodized aluminum construction, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

I keep buying JJC lens hoods. This is my fourth JJC lens hood and I am very pleased at the quality of material and workmanship. This one is aluminium and the flat black of the interior controls stray light well I bought this one for my "Pro" quality Vivitar 500mm f8 mirror lens, to improve the contrast of the images. This has helped get contrastier images that look sharper, and it was very reasonably priced. To tell the truth, the lens hood is a better performer than the lens, but you would know that if you owned one of these lenses as they are just good performers, so the JJC lens hood has helped.Thank again JJC for the quality lens hoods at a very good price. When I buy other photo gear, I now look for the JJC brand and that led me to their off camera flash cable. That's a very nice cable and I will write a nice review on that.

This lens hood is sturdy, beautifully made and functions extremely well in reducing lens flare on the glass of the lens. It is a screw on hood and works beautifully on my 24-70 f/2.8 lens. Great investment. It is very affordable and a good buy if you are in need of a quality built lens hood.

I purchased three of these for a DIY project, and they worked very well. I would recommend checking the threads just to be sure, esp. the front threads (if needed). The ability of the 77mm to take 82mm filters is helpful, but one of the items I received had faulty front threads.Other than that, they are metal and well-made.

Fits well, not too big so that it will cut off the image, not too small to be ineffective

Works just fine, didn't need to track down a vintage (expensive) Pentax hood

The hood is good for lenses more than 40mm. If using it on a wider lens it show a circular shadows around the edges. I wish I would of known. But will keep it and use for longer shots 40 mm or greater. The quality is good and I like that it's not plastic.

I use this lens hood with the Fuji 56 1.2 and it's fits well. Depending on your lenses filter size, you may need another lens cap.
