About this item

  • 【Usage】The Variable ND filter allows you to shoot wide-aperture lenses in bright light without overexposing and shallow depth of field while under lighting conditions that exceed the shutter speed capabilities of the camera. A good partner for you to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, vehicular traffic, seascapes, streams and clouds.
  • 【ND 2 - ND 400】2X to 400X filter factor provides an exposure reduction of 1- 9 stops. You only need to carry one ND filter with you to get a variety of darkness levels.
  • 【X Cross】Due to the design of the filters, as you approach the maximum ND setting, you can get a cross pattern across the image. This is remedied by dialing the ND setting back a bit.
  • 【Multi Nano Coating】16-Layer Nano Coating makes the filter anti-scratch, anti-fingerprints, anti-static, oil and water-resistant. The filter is constructed from high quality Japanese glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. Slim design with 0.28” aluminum frame helps minimize the potential for vignetting.
  • 【How to choose the right thread?】Compatible across all lenses with 72mm lens thread. Please verify your camera's lens thread size based on “Ø” marking on lens barrel or underneath lens cap before purchasing. For this 72mm ND filter, the lens cap/hood should be 77mm.

Product Description

tilte

The JJC Variable Neutral Density Filter allows you to adjust neutral density freely from ND 2 to ND 400, perfect for creating a slow shutter speed and long exposure. Easily change to a different density by rotating the front ring, no need to carry a bunch of filters for shooting. An ND filter is a handy and cost-effective camera accessory that can help you get your video’s exposure right and avoid getting over-exposed footage, making them an essential tool in the arsenal of any content creator and videographer.

How to fix the X pattern?

Make sure your filter is set between the Min and Max marks. Adjust your focal length and your position and then reduce the ND’s density value by rotating the ring towards the Min mark until the pattern disappears.

How to choose the right thread?

Please verify your camera's lens thread size based on “Ø” marking on lens barrel or underneath lens cap before purchasing.

Note* The focal length(eg. ED 14-42mm) is not the filter size.

  • For this variable ND filter, the lens cap/hood should be different, such as a 49mm variable ND filter, you have to choose a 52mm lens cap.

I think for what it is, it is good.Just don’t use the min and max setting. Use anywhere in the middle is sweet. The lens cap problem? It made a little bigger to avoid dark corner. That is a good thing.I use JJC product before and still good.

Even though towards the end of the range you begin to see an X mark, it still has a large range for a VND with very little color shift. I wish it had hard stops but can't complain about that at this price. Even comes with a decent carrying case for when it's in a bag.

Works better than I had hoped. It works so well I bought another one for my other lens. Only complaint is they don’t make it in 95mm.

The filter works great but if you have a UV filter on to protect your lens or any other filer you have to remove it. It will not allow you to use a lens hood of any kind and a lens cap will not work with it.. There are other products out there that don't have these restrictions. It is almost impossible to use in the field.

I use this on a 55mm prime lens on a Nikon D5600 and it’s wonderful.

Fixing on the lens is a little tricky, otherwise it does what it promises. Especially useful for clicking photos/ videos with wide aperture in daylight. The adjustable ring helps in manually setting the ambient light entering the lens. Good purchase for hobby photographers :)

If you're looking for a decently-priced variable ND filter this is the one. I read reviews for tons of these before selecting this one and didn't want to buy a high-priced one to have sitting in my camera kit. Very happy with this ND on my Canon R6 doing video shoots outside. Allows me to stop down for a nice shallow depth of field. I have not experienced the dreaded "X" thing that folks talk about in other versions. I'm ordering one for my 15-35mm F2.8L lens as well.

I like that you can get different grades of ND with the turn of the outer ring. However, it seems like there’s always one spot that I can’t fully match to the rest of the lens, so it’s always slightly lighter than the rest of the view.I haven’t been out shooting since I received this, so I’m hoping that this won’t be an issue.
