We do creme brulee for our anniversary every year, so we have become pretty good with a torch, but are also looking for a good torch to add to our arsenal.This torch is very powerful, maybe too much so...The flame comes out very wide and does give a point, but even then, it is wide. It doesn't give quite the control to which I am accustom, but it gets the job done.There is not really a way to bring the point of the flame finer, which is a draw-back, but works, all the same.As for the controls, they are pretty simple...it has a trigger to lite the flame and a safety switch to lock it. Finally, there is a big knob on the back to make the flame bigger. All of these are big and red, so they are easy to see. The only thing I would change would be a click on the knob when it is all the way off.They include two cans of butane, and it is easy to fill. The torch has an actual window to see the butane level, which is also nice.Overall, nice torch. It doesn't have everything I would choose in a torch, but it is a solid choice.

I like having creme brulee on occasion so this was nice to use to toast the top of the creme brulee. It functions as intended and seems to be of decent quality.

Filling this butane torch is a little tricky - not at all sure why it should be, but it certainly is an exercise in patience. If you have never filled the torch, set aside some unhurried time to get it done, and don't do it just before your intend to use it. I found that I could only fill it for 2 or 3 seconds at a time, otherwise cold liquid would be spilling out. I did not fill the torch completely either - I don't work in a professional kitchen and it is not as if I need a torch every day.Once you have some fuel in the torch, it works very well on both food and those pesky weeds growing between the paving slabs (which is where I did my initial test). This is my only experience with a blow torch and it is functioning well for me. I am looking forward to using it more in the future.I am very happy that it has a safety catch. The flame is adjustable - be aware that at its maximum it has quite a range. This is a really nice kitchen torch. I've mostly been using it with baking, and it's perfect for that purpose. I've also used it for some crafts. It's a really versatile tool, and so far it's really easy to use.The only issue I have with it is I can't seem to refill it properly. I can't seem to get it more than 1/3-1/4 of the way full, and it's very finicky about even that. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to doing it, but for now I'm struggling a little lol.
