This cool-season grass seed mixture consists of tall fescue, perennial rye, Kentucky bluegrass and fine fescue.

Rake
Rake your lawn vigorously to remove any thatch or debris. This step is essential in creating good seed-to-soil contact.
Spread
Use a hand spreader for small areas or a rotary spreader for larger areas to distribute the seed across your lawn.
Water
Watering the seedlings is imperative to their survival. Water for five minutes, 2 - 3 times a day for the first 4 weeks.

Worked as described. I have a lot of shade and my grass died because of low sunlight. Have St. Augustine grass and after a while just became barren dirt under the shade. This grass grew in about 2 weeks. Rich dark green. (Watered 4 times a day for germinating) considering redoing whole lawn to this. Have not cut grass yet and will need to reseed for bare spots. I did not have proper tools and wanted to see if it would work so I only had a pick axe to dig up the dirt and hand throw the seeds. (A lot of hard work) I highly recommend this seed.

I am so happy about the results of this seed mixture! It began germinating in 2 weeks, just as it said. The first pic is before I got results.I am now at week 3, and it continues to grow and spread. Some areas grew before others. Slow, but sure. The water was key.The green color is so rich and vibrant! The quality of the blades is definitely better than my existing grass. I failed to put the accompanying fertilizer down, because I did not see this recommendation until after I received the shipment and read the instructions. I will do that when I seed again in the fall.I did this myself. Because it is still fairly cool, I chanced doing this in mid to late May. I checked the10-day forecast first.I tilled the ground specifically in spots where the grass was gone completely, and just lightly mixed it in with other saturated areas. I used my hand to throw the seeds down versus my seeding barrow in order to better concentrate on the bare spots. I watered it no less than every other day until the rains conveniently came. I tried to time it that way.I was so excited when I saw grass peeping!I have a corner that is very shady in the front due to lots of trees. Had bare spots for along time until I decided to take charge of my embarrassing yard.This is working perfectly! I look forward to seeing it in 6 weeks! Cutting it soon. As you have to wait a bit. It will need another pass to get the density I ultimately want.Definitely buying this again!

I did a LOT of research before choosing a full shade seed. This was 1 of 3 seeds I narrowed it to and it was the best value for the sized area I needed to start a new lawn. So far, this is working as good as I could have hoped for.Quick to germinate and seems to be getting well established in a full shade area even more quickly than expected.However, I wont know till next spring if it really took root really well and thrives.I will update if there is a problem.

I did blend this product with another brand, so I can't say - with certainty - that these seeds germinated. But the lawn under a huge shade tree came up nicely - so I'll have to say, overall, it was a success. The seed did take almost 2 weeks to start to germinate -- I thought it should have came up quicker considering the ideal weather conditions and that I sowed the seeds before the shade tree leafed out to give them optimum sun - along with watering daily. They came up quite thin and sparse at first -- I'd say it took a good month before it could be safely mowed without damaging the baby shoots. Even now (early summer) I'd have to say the lawn did not come up as thick as I had hoped for -- but I'm ok with the result, considering I could never get a blade of grass to grow in the bare spots for almost 10 years. So this year I turned over the soil with a tiller early in the year, added peat moss and other nutrients and started from scratch with a new lawn -- definitely the best lawn I've had in 10 years.

Finally have gotten some grass to grow in a shady area. While the grass is not lush yet, it at least has started to grow. Shady areas are always a challenge.

I purchased this product, followed the planting instructions carefully, and very little grass germinated. I followed the instructions on their bag that says to send the proof of purchase and receipt for a refund. They never responded. UPDATE. Just received my refund. Don't know if it had to do with my review but they came through.

I bought these seeds fall 2023 for a densely shady area. They germinated and formed a nice green area. This spring 2024 they continued to grow then in May the grass started to die back and now I have worse bare areas than last year. I have irrigation three days a week so it’s watered ok. I live in Utah. All the other grass in the yard is green and lush but this area. It looked better before I overseeded with this product. I wouldn’t recommend it
