Does not seem to add chemical taste to drinking water.However, is very soft and blows up if water pressure is over 30-40lbs.I reinforced it with woven "tube" nylon mesh sleeving and the combination works well up to 80lbs.

I’ve used silicone tubing in the aquarium hobby for years. Got this in 5/8†for a short filter hookup. It crimps at the slightest provocation. I threw it away. RUN!
