The 36 Gauge felting needle hole is relatively large, the 38 Gauge felting needle hole is relatively small, and the 40 Gauge felting needle hole is the smallest.

Great kit for beginners who need to build their tools for needle felting. The needle holders are quality. 3 different size needles are included; 40 each! It has 2 leather protection sleeves for your fingers. My first kit didn’t include them and it was a blood bath on my hands. I have not used the cloths yet but my first needles have spots on them. It all comes in a compact plastic box not mentioned in the description.

Good needles, just wish the needle gauges were indicated. They should put a color coded chart in with the needles so you know what function each needle does. Otherwise you are guessing.

I wanted to "felt" embroidered cotton. It does tangle cotton fibers to some extent to make a dense mat and obscure the stitches.Having not used them on wool or loosely twisted yarn, I don't know how they'd work for felting those fibers.Having never bought felting needles before, I was surprised by them. I thought they'd be abrasive like an emery board all along their length, but they have just a few triangular notches on the edges.I didn't buy a handle-holder for my experiment, but they're not hard to hold without one.

I am quite happy with set. The felting handles were all in good condition. Needles are good and not rusted. The rag is quite useful for wiping off any oil residue on the needles which helps the needles not to rust, before using. The finger protectors are good to and didn't smell to bad because of them being leather and pack in the case. I would recommend this kit.

As a needle felted, I was disappointed to find all the needles in this pack were rusted and not good quality. I would not recommend.
