I wish I found these files sooner. I have a similar set that is curved and a set that is tiny. These are just right. I have not used them yet - I just received them - but I know they will file my hardened polymer clay sculptures just fine.

Decent set with lots of options with different shaped files. Ok storage making it easy to find the shape that works best for your project. Clean easily if using on heat treated steel. Not sure how durable they will be but due to them being very small they are best suited for very small deburring work or hobby projects.

I couldn't wait to get them when I ordered the files. When I got them they were perfect, exactly what I needed. So i used them the same day i got them. I just recently picked up a hobby. Making jewelry out of stone, agate, ect. They work great, they comfortable to use, the quality of the tool works really good. And for the price that I paid? Very good investment, I'm glad I decided not purchase this item. As you can see on the second picture, that's the leaf i carved out of moss agate. So if your looking for a good set of diamond file, i would defenatly recommend this product.

I'm always working on something that needs some filing done, but often the standard files are way too big. This set is just right for smaller and more delicate jobs. I've used several of them already and they work great. Remember, the right tool for the job is the best way to do the job right. There are a lot of these sets to choose from, but for me these turned out to be OK. They are not for heavy duty work, so don't use them for purposes they are not designed for. And wear your eye protection.

I have a set of steel jeweller’s files made by the German AB Dick company. I’ve had these for a couple of decades and they work quite well in the right application. They remove small controlled amounts of metal and leave a fairly smooth worked surface. But they are a bit of a bother when the application is removal of more metal on a hard surface such as steel; slow going. A recent illustration of this issue occurred recently: There was a need to cut a rather deep curved slot in a piece of 3mm thick steel. It would have been possible to use my Dremel with a burr to cut the slot, but burrs would be hard to control in this application. So I clamped the work piece in a vice and began working with the Dick files; the going proved slow indeed. So I then swapped the Dick for the Kalim diamond file, which produced a much faster result. The Kalim diamond files produce a coarser cut finish than the Dick jeweller’s files, and cut on both the push and pull stroke while the Dick files cut only on the push stroke as is the case with all steel jeweller’s files—they are made that way. After using the Kalim files to cut the slot, the surface finish was smoothed with the Dick files and made ready for painting. In this application the Kalim files proved superior in speed of controlled material removal.Another experiment produced the opposite result. A lid from a tin can was clamped in a vice and worked with the Kalim files. The result was difficult and disappointing. The diamonds of the Kalim tended to catch and grab the steel lid. Pushing harder simply bent the thin steel. Beginning again, this time with the Dick file and working was pleasantly transformed. The Dick files proved much faster, and an easier result in the thin can lid. Moral: choose the right tool for the right job. Aussie’s have a metaphor in horse racing: “Horses for courses”.Diamond abrasives slowly break as they are used, and eventually yield a much smoother finish. This breaking of diamonds to make smaller cutting stones produces a finer finish, but also slows the cut. However, the Kalim files will probably always result in a faster cut than the Dick files.
