The KastKing Brutus spinning reel uses a lightweight and durable graphite frame and rotor to keep weight down. Performance is assured by using a zinc alloy main gear and a brass pinion gear for strength and durability. The steel main shaft ensures strength at the heart of the reel.

A smooth drag is a very important part of any fishing reel and the Brutus uses one of the best. The multi-disc drag system is not only exceptionally smooth but will deliver exceptional fish stopping power. The Brutus spinning fishing reel has a reversible, left- or right-hand retrieve handle and features a 5.2:1 gear ratio which is perfect for all around fishing. Reels from 2000 to 4000 have a lightweight, strong graphite handle arm, the 5000 size reel as an aluminum handle arm for added strength.

I am impressed with this reel for the price point. It replaced a seldom used all plastic reel on an Ugly Stik Dockrunner. I used this mainly for bait: running a small sabiki rig, so time will tell how it holds up to saltwater. I thoroughly rinse and dry all my gear immediately after use. If the materials are as well made as they seem to be it hopefully wont be an issue. If it is, there was minimal investment here. The internals seem smooth, and this wont be getting a lot of stress on them. The overall value if certainly there on this reel, and I am impressed with Kastking so far.

I guess it should get a 5 considering it is a $30 reel. It is far better than the Penn Wrath which I have. I bought this to go with an 11ft surf rod and it is well balanced and light. A little on the small size for a 5000. It has taken a dunk in the water and when I took it apart there was no water in the inner gears. Just the bale area. I am impressed. Problem is it has a small spindle. What pulled it in the water was hooking up with a good size jack crevalle. The reel struggled. At the 5000 size I didn't think it should have. but again it is a $30 reel. It is smooth when pulling in whiting. Also one other problem was this reel was not easy to disassemble but maybe that is what kept the water out of the gears. Great kids reel. Note: the bale area that got wet was easy to disassemble and service. Maybe I shoukd have given it 5 stars.

I purchased this 3000 size to replace a Shakespeare reel that had broke when something heavy was dropped on it. Very smooth action and to me it casts as good or better than the Shakespeare. Have another in the 5000 size on a catfish rig. I highly recommend these for the quality and price!

Love this reel. It’s smooth and well engineered. I bought for myself ice fishing lake trout, but also use it on my spinner pole. For the price it can’t be beat. I plan on getting a second.

I needed a new reel for my telescoping camp rod and bought this as an upgrade. It's smooth, lightweight, and priced really well. Very happy with the purchase! (should I deduct two stars because I haven't caught a fish yet? Nah.... : )
