I used this reel most of the season throwing different lighter spinners and crankbaits. The reel is still just as smooth and solid as the first day I used it. My other reels I have used are Abu Garcia Revo's which are also very nice reels but not anywhere close in the same price range. I often fish rivers and streams from my kayak and I am not a big fan of using very high end stuff from the kayak incase of any unforeseen occurrences. The higher dollar equipment stays on my big boat. With that said I did fish at least once a week from start of Spring through end of Summer from my kayak using this reel and a couple other Kast King models. Of the 3 models this one did seem to perform better for me. All 3 models were within $10 of each other. One of them was a lower gear ratio for deeper diving crankbaits. My 16 year old son has really just started taking an interest in fishing and he was able to use this caster with very little trouble also. After helping him adjust it correctly to the lure he was throwing, he was able to cast it accurately and at a good distance pretty quickly. If you are looking for a solid well performing bait caster and you don't have an unlimited budget, I would recommend checking this one out.

My reel arrived on time and was packaged well.Earlier this year I wanted to get a BFS reel and bought my first KastKing. Because of the low price I was very surprised how well it performed straight out of the box and how well it handled a season of fishing. That made it an easy decision to go with them again when it came time to upgrade the baitcaster on my medium setup.Again, I was impressed straight from the box.1. Smooth casting. Not only did I have controlled casts with heavier jigs but I was able to get good distance with my light floating jerkbaits. I was even able to cast some of my ultralight lures that I use on the BFS!2. Easy to adjust so changing lure sizes is quick.3. Sturdy but with a low profile. It is a good size if you plan on throwing baits all day.Another small thing that I like is that the spool is easy to remove.and lock.back in place. There is a release lever (shown in second pick) so no fumbling with screws or other removable pieces.

After I got used to it and got the settings right it works like a charm. Caught 50+ fish on it in first few months. Well constructed and operates easy. Just learn how to cast them and adjust them or none of them will work for you. This was my first one and I figured it out pretty quick. Would buy brand again. Great price.

After having a chance to fish with this reel a few times I'm happy to say it's a good one. Smooth cast and retrieval. Good cast distance and no backlash when set up properly. Bonus for it being a sharp looking reel. Best bang for your buck hands down. I will absolutely be getting more KastKing products in the future. Maybe even a few more of these so I don't have to reset my spool/drag with different baits.

I seen this reel advertised on instagram at a very low price for a bait casting reel. Being the price of the reel and knowing how the saying goes you get what you pay for I was a little skeptical. I purchased it and wow was I impressed with the quality and performance. I strapped it to an ugly stick and let me tell you this is one time where I definitely got a good product for a low price. When I told other fisherman about it they said I got one hell of a deal but on behalf of myself I gave them information on how to get this deal for themselves. It’s the least I can do for Kastking delivering a good product at a reasonable price. It’s a great reel. I been using it without any issues and once you get your settings perfected there’s hardly any to no backlash. I highly recommend it if your a beginner like myself with bait casting reels. 5 stars in my opinion.

A year ago I'd never heard of Kastking . Last year I bought a Kastking boonie hat for my daughter to go fishing with and she really likes it .I decided I wanted a new baitcaster reel to put on an old (old old) pistol grip Uglystik 1st gen so I didn't want to spend the big bucks I'd spent on the reel already on it . Ok so they make cool boonie hats but does that equate to fishing gear . I read a bunch of reviews , watched a bunch of YouTube videos and decided to give this one a try , especially since I could get a lefty for the same price as a rightie .Man I'm glad I did . I'd never spooled my own braided before but decided to try out some Kastking power line . It was super easy to fill (after watching a bunch of YouTube videos to see the best way for me ) and in hardly any time I was casting a practice 1/2oz rubber frog .The first cast was SO SMOOTH I got a huge birdsnest so I locked the brakes down as tight as they could go then loosened little by little until I was almost birdsnesting but not quite and that frog was going at least a 1/3 farther than it did on the prior reel and the leftie handle took about 2 casts to feel natural , no more switching hands after casting .I am blown away at how smooth it casts and reels back in .I'm gonna keep the old reel that I paid 3 times as much for about a decade ago just in case but I'm not going to buy another rod to put it on .If you're new to Baitcasters and don't want to spend a fortune or if you're an old hat to them , like me , but don't have a big budget for another toy this reel is a blast to use .I liked my reel so much when they went on sale again I bought another 7.2.1 AND a 5.4.1 to use on a couple of rods I already have. I plan on using the 5.4.1 on a kayak specific used rod for its slower retrieval .I'm using Kastking Hammer 30# braid on a 7.21 and the 5.4.1 Kastking Super Power 30# braid on the other 7.2.1 .What I have found on these reels is if you over fill , even just 10 yards , they are much less forgiving than Lews versions for bird nesting . Fill to about an 1/8" below the black part of the side , not even with the black (which shows about 1/8 oz red trim ) like I did initially . I couldn't get it to work right to she my self , no matter what I adjusted until I realized I'd over filled the reel. I took about 10 yards back off and now I'm tossing 1/8 swim jigs at least 20 yards on a 5'-6" rod , and heavier lures much farther , with no back lashes . I think the extra smoothness is why it's less forgiving . That spool is really moving when it gets cast .

No me gusto se uso 4 veces y después ya no botaba el seguro, se quebró uno de los resortes internos que quitaban el seguro a la hora de recuperar hilo.

Very clean tidy finish, looks excellent, lovely looking bit of kit and it's as smooth as silk, not only on the retrieve but also in free spool, can't wait to get out and give it a go.

Handle stucks while retrieving need to apply more pressure to pass one round and that's keeps repeats for every one roundNever expected such performance from this reel
