Plugged it in and slapped it on the bottom of the oil pan. Couple hours later the oil pan was very warm (below freezing outside) and the tractor started much easier.

Works fine. We use it on a plow truck that we have to park outside. With temperatures around ten degrees above zero outside for ten days straight this heater made starting the truck much easier. We will buy a second heater to use on the snow blower that we store in our outdoor shed. To early to say how much electricity we use.

The magnets stick up a bit past the heating element, allowing a gap (reduced heat transfer) when used on my parts washer, but I modified them and it works great now.

BUYER BEWARE!"To me" the Kat's handi-heat Magnum part #1190 is potentially dangerous.I'm a Maintenance Tech at a health care facility. We are in a very RURAL area of the Mid Atlantic and being without power or a generator that's ready to go is not an option especially for our patients.I purchased the Handi-Heat as a replacement for our backup generator on Oct 12th of 2019. I personally test this generator every 2 weeks to confirm it's operational even in the coldest weather. After installing the Handi-heat on the oil pan the generator was run for 20 minutes on 2 separate occasions. (Warmed quite well) Walking into the gen shed this past weekend I knew something wasn't right, didn't have the warm oil smell. I found that the Handi-heat had infact overheated and shorted itself out. (Pictures) In my application there was little chance of a fire but for it to only last for 40 minutes of actual run time and about 6 weeks of just sitting and warming is a huge rip off. If this had been in a residential application it certainly could have resulted in a fire.I don't have an ax to grind with Kat's I just wanted to share my experience with this product.

Stuck it to the oil pan of my 83 chevy 6.2l diesel. It was between 0°f and 5°f had it plugged in for about 4 hours before trying to start. It took a couple attempts to crank after glow plugs and truck fired up.Thus product works the way it is supposed to.👍
