Bought as part of my gear for my 2022 PCT thru hike. After a great deal of research these pills are the best choice for water purification. The manufacturer states, "The only tablet or liquid proven effective against viruses, bacteria, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium in all water conditions. The only purification tablet (or liquid) EPA registered as a microbiological water purifier. Each tablet is premeasured to treat one liter of water; no mixing or measuring required. Tablets are individually sealed in waterproof strips for a longer shelf life and to reduce weight"Most of the tablets do not protect you from both Giardia, and Cryptosporidium, but these do. Super easy to use with one liter bottles.

Haven't used them, but they got here quickly, were fairly reasonably priced, and got here in good shape. They are a redundancy to my water filtration system, just in case.

My friend and I went on a five day backpacking trip in CA, and hands down, these tablets produced the most normal tasting water. We had access to plenty of lakes, streams, and sometimes a pond looking pool of water. We didn't take a chance, so we treated all sources with this and a different brand. Although other brands took only a few minutes, this one takes at least four hours to treat. Other brands actually change the color into an orange color, but this Katadyn makes the water clear and we couldn't tell the difference.Again the four hour treatment time takes a bit of planning, but definitely worth it.

While I predominately use a filter device like the sawyer mini, I always carry the micro pur as a backup. Not my primary purification system because of the time and taste, but they have been effective in the past and I expect will be as well in the future... lightweight alternative to "two is one and one is none" philosophy.

Received yesterday just in time for a short three-day outdoor excursion. The plan is to use these in conjunction with a standard water filter for added protection. One concern I have; according to the directions you use one tablet per 1 qt of water and wait four hours. The problem as I see it is, there are two tablets in each packet. Perhaps there is a seal between the tablets so when you open and use one, the other remains secure. I'll know next week when we're out camping and will update my review.

The best water purification made for the avid hiker, biker, trecker .One tablet to water will give that extra security for unknown water sources.Light weight small packing and ready to go to work simply by pushing it out of a blister pack.Quick easy and affordable but a good choice to avoid being sick on the trail or on the road.

Item arrived quickly and packaged very well. I havent had a chance to use them at all, but my research says they are among the top tier of these type products.

I took off TWO stars ... for pricing and "deceptive" marketing.PROS:* INDIVIDUAL FOIL PACKAGING (flat perforated encapsulation). This packaging (flat/foil) is IDEAL for pocket kits, tins, med-kits !* Much less nasty after-taste than iodine (has a chlorine taste).* Only one tablet per quart/liter required.CONS:* VERY high price per quart ! PROHIBITIVE (IMO).(Potassium Permanganate Crystals are a more reasonable alternative)* ONLY 20 Tablets, at this high price !* Takes FOUR HOURS (in cool temps) before water is safe to drink.BOTTOM LINE: This is really the very best and only option for long-term storage in small/flat kits (at whatever price). The durable (individually sealed) flexible foil "card-packs" allow for compact, long-term storage, where no other options can really do quite as well (fit). At this price-point (per-liter) I would recommend ONLY one package, of these, for your most compact kits . Caveats: READ ALL WARNINGS VERY CAREFULLY ! DO not touch the tablets or allow any residue to make contact with your eyes !! )... Wash your hands and do not rub your eyes after *NOT* touching!ALSO: ... Do not let these foil-packs get too warm, for too long.(If you have a choice, do not store against your body or on the outside edge of your pack ... In your car? ... Avoid the trunk and go for "under the seat" storage, or even in a mini-cooler, on the floor).Customer "experience" ... My expectations were IMPROPERLY SET and were sorely dashed !! ... NO QUANTITY INFO PROVIDED !! First-off, the ad/product-listing DID NOT tell how many tablets that Amazon customers will get, for this exhorbitant price !! I was forced to enlarge the (lame) product photo and THEN? ... I had to increase my browzer magnification to ~200% until I could *almost* read the QUANTITY on the (intentionally?) fuzzy photo ... After doing ALL THAT ? ... I *thought* I could read the contents of THIS package as containing THIRTY TABLETS ... *** W R O N G ! *** Very disappointed to discover that ONLY *TWENTY* tablets were included, for this very high price ... really not worth that much, per quart, when a YEAR's supply of Potassium Parmanganate Crystals only cost a few bucks !!I have issues with how very many times that these sorts of "ommisions" and "wrong-photos" and "improper listings" and obscured shipping costs occur, here, at Amazon ... I have ordered enough stuff to believe a carefully calculated "statistical trend" (suspicious practices) may be at work, here (at Amazon). The reason I say this is because of the consistency, of the mis-information, which always (often) seems to "play the margins" of "accidental" rip-offs . Amazon needs to be more careful, IMO, to verify that customer expectations are properly set and that ALL items ordered DO arrive, without undue "handling" costs, wrong descriptions, and other hidden zingers which (consistently) seem to fail the customer, rather than the vendors ... some of whom may be "fall-guy" type fronts ? ...... Seems that way ... Nickle and dime ... A little bit here ... A little bit there ... One item THIS month ... another item next month ... Over-night vendors (ACME "this or that") ... Too many "gotchas" ... Just my opinion. At 8% local tax? ... Brick and mortar is looking batter and better.
