Just got back from yet another trip. 70mph speed limit with 30 gusts over a bridge. Held up just fine. Unlike other reviews I like the inculded straps. They work perfect if you know what you're doing. I would personally advise against ratchet straps as it would be too easy to over tighten and compromise both your kayak and the racks.

Bought these to carry kayaks and they work fine for that. The only issue was one of the holes wasn’t drilled in exactly the right spot so there was one bolt that wouldn’t go through. A little work with a file hogged it out enough and they went together fine in the end.

Very nice and easy to assemble. Easy to assemble but once I assembled them, they wouldn't work with my roof rack system so I sold them. Good value for the money. excellent to deal with.

For $50, you get what you pay for with this item, and as long as you know that, it's ok. The j-bars require assembly, and everything was packaged nicely in the box. The j-bars, metal bracket plates, and rubber bases were all put in bubble wrap, and the hardware was in its own ziplock bag. An instruction sheet was included - no words really just a single large diagram of how all the pieces were to assemble. For someone not used to assembling things like this and reading lackluster instructions, it could be confusing. Once I figured it out and got the right tools (deep-socket and rachet are useful), it probably took 15-20 minutes total for assembly.Installing the j-bars on the roof crossbars was not hard, but I have to warn you that at least with my package, two of the eight plastic knobs were threaded incorrectly or manufactured incorrectly, and wouldn't tighten on the mounting screws. On one of them, using channel-locks just broke the plastic knob. They really aren't needed to be honest, so I used a 13mm wrench and tightened the mounting nuts that way. Took a longer but no worries. The j-bars themselves are sturdy, have nice padding on them, and look nice. I carried two kayaks 40+ miles on the highway and no issues at all after I installed the j-bars. However, the cam straps that came with the set were at least 24" too short and weren't able to be used to tie-down the kayaks. Basically, the cam straps were useless, though I was able to use two of them together to use as a bow tie-down on one of the kayaks. Thankfully I had brought four rachet straps with me just in case, so I had to use those instead of the cam straps. I have since purchased cam straps from Lowe's that are much longer. So, the j-bars themselves get 5-stars, the cam straps and knobs get 1-star. Overall, 3-stars.

Update: The seller gave me a full refund, well outside the return period, which I am happy with. Customer service was great and responsive after my post below.I purchased this Fall 2022 and just used it for the first time a couple weeks ago. The nuts constantly came loose slowly while driving on the thruway, no matter how much I hand tightened them. In fact one of the plastic tighteners cracked when trying to tighten further.I kept pulling over while driving to tighten them again. I had a regular paddleboard and kayak on either side, both only weighing about 50 pounds each. After 90 minutes of driving home from vacation, one j-rack had its nuts loosen so much that it apparently wiggled around, causing overload on the rack with the wind and weight while thruway driving, and then one j-rack completely bent over, slamming my paddleboard down to the outside edge of my roof (2018 Ford Explorer). The other j-rack on the same side bent slightly. You can see the evidence on the attached picture. This should NOT happen. I tightened them as much as I could, and had the straps securely tightened (not just around the j-racks, but around the roof rack bars also, which is probably the only thing that stopped the board from flying off my car while driving and causing serious damage to a nearby car on the thruway).I did NOT buy the protection plan, but I really ought to get my money back, and will petition the company with the same message. If you're wondering, I still have the board.....I left it in the grass on the thruway, went home to unload the kayak, and then came back to load the paddleboard up on the j-rack side that did not break (I used on a wrench on that side to tighten the nuts further to make sure they wouldn't come loose).

Very durable and dependable racks. Easy to install and hold kayaks very securely. Rust resistant and mounting brackets fit most sizes of roof racks

Inconvenient to receive a good which you have to put together, only to find it is missing a part. It has delay the use for which it was being purchased for.
