Our ferro rod fire starter is a highly effective ferrocerium rod. It can easily ignite fires in any weather conditions, even when wet.
A must have for your survival kit
Ferro Rod Length: 4.5"(11.5cm), Diameter: 3/8"(1cm). Waterproof & Weatherproof. Sparks shower to ignite a fire in any weather: Rain, Snow, Wind, High-altitude.
The 4 ft braided paracord lanyard is securely attached to the ferro rod, providing a comfortable grip that won't come off.
The striker is made from high-hardness steel with a unique arc design that maximizes the shower of hot sparks. It can be used with either your left or right hand for scraping.
How to Use
Step 1.
Gather some effective tinder, such as cotton balls, tissues, or dry grass, etc. Tear the tinder as small as possible and make sure the tinder is dry enough to make it easier to ignite. Do not use materials that are difficult to ignite as tinder, such as larger branches, etc.
Step 2.
Place the end of the ferro rod close to the tinder. Use the sharp edge of the striker, angle the scraper at about 45 degrees, to forcefully strike the ferro rod several times to release sparks aimed at the tinder pile until it ignites.
Step 3.
Feeding the flame with kindling and larger branches lets the fire burn. Once you know how to use it, the ferro rod will be very useful and easy to use.

Let me start by saying that I own multiple Ferro rods similar to this one, and this one is one of my top three because of the amount of heat and spark it produces per strike. The price is prefect and it will not disappoint you because it works every time you hit it. It will last you a long time because is bigger than most (yeah,,, keep dreaming)…..

A little difficult to remove the black paint coating but otherwise it was a good choice.

The ferro bar is painted. Just a few scrapes and it comes off sparking right away. Should be no trouble getting a fire ignited. Overall everything seems well made and sturdy. Recommended
