Got these for a friend after she bought a used 2011 crv and only came with one key fob, they are working great so far and were easy to program,

Worked fine. There’s some things to consider….I had ace hardware cut it. They matched my original key. I programmed the keyless function (simple process)I programmed the Immobilizer with my launch x431 scan tool. Works just as it should but your typical diy guy may not be able to do the immobilizer part. Ace claimed they have a guy that can program them. But that’s just what they said. So I can’t confirm that2010 Honda insight

Ordered these keys to replace a broken original. Seemed legit, and instructions to “program” the key seemed easy enough. Keys arrived and I was able to “program” the remote so the lock/unlock buttons worked, so thought all I needed to do was get the keys cut and I’d be all set.Took keys to local locksmith, he said he could do it, but that I might need to “program” the keys. I told him I had already successfully done that and only needed them cut. He cut the keys, they locked and unlocked the doors, and the engine turned on when used in the ignition. I thought everything was great, so I headed home and gave my daughter her new key.Next day, she tells me that the car turns off after 5 seconds when she turns it on. I think she must be mistaken, so I try and, sure enough, engine only stays on for about 5 seconds. A quick web search reveals that the keys have 2 things that need to be programmed: remote (lock/unlock) AND a transponder in the key fob that is required to be paired to the car so it can turn engine on for good. I go back to locksmith, tell him that I thought I had programmed, but that it was only the remote and not the transponder. He said he has a machine to program & pair the transponder to my car.BUT, when he went to program the transponder, his machine indicated that the KEYS HAVE NO TRANSPONDER THAT CAN BE PROGRAMMED. Now I’m back to square one, needing to get s new key that can be FULLY programmed, and am out the cost of the keys, the cutting, and the cost of new keys I need to order (and have cut).

I read reviews before buying this blank fob for a Honda CRV 2009. Once received, I followed the instructions on an enclosed card to 'a' webpage that may or may not have been the sellers. The web page (remotesremotes dot com) said this year, make, and model required special equipment to program it! I 'chatted' with someone there and they confirmed that programming required a dealer or locksmith. This isn't true, as I easily followed the instructions another reviewer posted and it programmed successfully. You can do this before the key is cut. Use your usual key in the ignition, but use the new unprogrammed fob for clicking the 'lock' button as directed in the sequence. That way if the fob fails to work, it could be returned as it hasn't been cut yet. Locksmith will cut for $45, but won't need the 100 dollar programming. Anyway, the key fob I was sent has a working battery and the product looks good. The metal part seems to be the same dimensions as the existing key. It locks and unlocks the doors perfectly. It might not need to be cut, as it would get the car open if your good key was locked inside. I'm going to have it cut anyway, as a precaution. Pleased with this product and pricing. This will go into a magnetic box.UPDATE: I made some mistakes in the above comments. 1. Yes, one can program the key fob to lock and unlock the doors. I then had the key cut. The key fob works, the key will go into the ignition, the engine will turn over, but won't start. This is what the locksmith expected. It appears that all keys for the vehicle must be brought in, and all of them programmed by the locksmith or dealer so the car can be started. $99. Before doing this, I am going to investigate if there is something else that will work. Right now, the two keys that came with the car work to start the car and unlock the doors. The new key will unlock the door wirelessly and by inserting the key. This is enough to hide on the exterior of the car and use in case the fully operational key is locked in the car. In many cases, this is all that is needed. But if the working key is lost, this backup key will get one into the car, but the car won't start. Will update this again if more is learned.

I have a '10 Honda CRV. My key fob bit the dust this week and the keyhole entry in my drivers side door stopped functioning about a year ago. My fob stopped working due to the metal prong/hands falling off where battery is located. If your fob stops working, check to make sure all the metal prongs are intact. If you're handy, you could probably solder them back on.I took the chip board out of my old fob and put it into the new one. The rubber surrounding the chip board was not an exact perfect fit with this new fob, but enough to align the battery, chip and buttons to work and close it. No programming or anything since the chip board was the same. Don't need the key cut since I use a valet key.I gave this 4 starts (not 5) because the tiny screw at the base of the key is almost impossible to unscrew. I utilized every tool in my arsenal to try to get this thing unscrewed. I was able to very slowly un-pry the edges using a couple different flat screwdrivers (see pic).I'm happy with the product. Was able to disarm my security system in the car and get the locks working again w/out having to go to the dealership and spend a fortune on a new fob.

I am extremely happy with these key fods. I rarely leave any feedback about my purchases, but these fobs gave me no other option but writing a review. They are very easy to program with the door locks. I did it my self with absolutely no tools or device. Just by turning the ignition to on and of position and pressing the lock button on the fob for few times. The fob was successfully programmed to open and lock the car. Took the key fob to a locksmith just to get it cut and immobilizer programming. They work like charm.Best value for money.

Bought used 2012 CRV only came with one key. Dealer quoted $300 for a new key. Ordered these and called around auto locksmiths near us in BC, they were too far away as we live in a small town. We waited for our planned drive down to USA, Stopped by an auto locksmith in Spokane WA and for $75 US, got them both cut and programmed. All functions work. Very pleased.

I was able to program the key to lock/unlock the car. However, the key does not actually start the car. When I try to start it, a green key icon appears on the dashboard. This looks like a security feature. This makes the key useless without expensive 3rd party programming (quoted $150 to program it, plus additional cost to cut key).
