Installed these units throughout my house. Installation was a breeze and so far they have performed very well. The only thing I don't like is that during normal operation a red light blinks briefly. In other models this would indicate the battery needs to be replaced but the instruction manual says this is normal for this unit. It chirps if the backup battery needs replacement.

We bought these to replace the 25+ year old units that were installed when our home was built. Once we found the breaker that the old ones were on installation was a snap. Cut, splice, screw, twist and on to the next one.All tested 100% and so far we haven't had a fire, so the only wild card is if they will work with smoke in the air. I certainly hope so!

We have purchased these smoke detectors before. They are easy to install and are reliable. We change them every six months and have no issues with the battery life. A good product.
