Bought for granddaughter learning to ride bike without training wheels. I was impressed with the pads. They are made of a hard, thick plastic and I was sure it would protect the vulnerable areas during falls. Day 1 - the palm protectors were thrown off. The thick, hard plastic made it difficult for her to grip the handlebars. Day 2 - the knee and elbow pads were tossed. The velcro straps kept rubbing the bends of her elbows and knees. If I loosened them, they did not stay in place. If they stayed in place, they irritated her skin. (She's a skinny girl so I wasn't too surprised.) Elastic straps without velco would have been better for her. The helmet is also made with a thick, sturdy plastic, has padding inside and stays in place. The adjustable chin strap is great and easy to adjust for best fit. She did say the holes for ventilation didn't really seem to help as her head still gets pretty hot. Helmet is a requirement for bike riding and she'd rather be out riding her bike than sitting inside playing on my cell phone. Even though she tossed the pads on the second day, I was impressed with the quality for the price and will buy again for my grandsons...just different colors.

The helmet is a little flimsy compared to other brands and skate helmets but there is enough padding inside for it be stable and provide protection. The helmet fits well and is well ventilated. I have always liked the protection provided by skate helmets better than bike helmets but upon further research found that bike helmets are better when used with riding a bike.My children love the wrist protection and I think it is a really nice add on. The only issue is the elbow pads are quite big but if you make an x across it will hold well on their arms. Everything else fit perfectly. The bag is also very helpful to keep all the gear together and not thrown around.I am happy with the purchase and I purchased two sets one for each child and they are still in great condition after a couple months of wear and tear as they learn to ride their bikes without training wheels.

Strap broke in helmet after three months. Bummer. If I bought in store I would insist on an exchange, but can’t do that on Amazon after 30 days. Will buy next helmet in store. Should last better than this one.
