Simply place double cream into the glass jar base, attach the lid with the churning mechanism and turn the handle which starts to rotate the paddles. Continue to churn for around 10 minutes until the butter fat separates from the buttermilk. Strain away the buttermilk and shape the butter fat using the Kilner® Butter Paddles. Was pleasantly surprised to find the jar bigger than I thought it would be.Washed and dried right away.Used my heavy cream at room temperature. About 12 ounces. Which took around a half an hour to solidify.About 12 ounces makes about a half of cup of butter.Very easy to churn until the butter starts to form. Then easy again.Used it on grilled cheese sandwiches. The best.Remember to save the buttermilk to use in recipes! This is a great buy. Works well. Fun to watch as you churn the heavy cream. Great value! I am happy I bought this.

I really wanted to love this butter churn. I’ve been making my own butter for years by shaking the cream in a jar, so I desperately wanted an easier option. This was to be the answer to my hopes but that’s just not how it worked out. The churn was easy to crank at first, but after the cream turned thicker it got increasingly difficult to crank, to the point that I eventually had to transfer the whipped cream to my jar that I’ve been shaking my cream to make butter. Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed in the churn. Besides all that, the nut on the handle kept vibrating off. I had to reattach the handle nut several times within the churn time. This may be a design flaw that could be rectified in production. Long story short, it’s my opinion that shaking the cream in a jar until it turns to butter is a much better way to make butter than this particular churn. It does look cute though if you want it to decorate your homestead kitchen.

So I made butter for the first time ever. Really exiting and after 20-25 minutes the butter finally separated from the butter milk. Unfortunately after churning for 15 minutes I noticed a bit of black powder. It came from the turning of the gears and I think also from the handle. I don’t think it’s supposed to happen, because it’s literally made to be turning a lot. So the butter is amazing but I hope I didn’t break the thing first try.

Ich benötige in der Regel für die Herstellung von Butter ca. 8 Minuten. Die Kurbel lässt sich leicht drehen und das Butter machen, macht Spaß. Die Butter schmeckt sehr gut, der Rest Buttermilch ist auch interessanter Weise sehr gut im Geschmack. Ich war neugierig und es funktioniert sehr gut. Gerne mache ich die Butter auch zu besonderen Anlässen, so z.B. in der Grillsaison. Sie schmeckt besser als die Gekaufte, aber wir haben auch sehr gute Quellen hier. Meist spare ich mir die Arbeit die Vollmilch zu separieren und kaufe daher die Sahne. Das funktioniert auch sehr gut mit der Rewesahne, wenn es auf die Schnelle gehen muss. Klare Empfehlung für diejenigen, die Spaß am Selbstgemachten haben und guten Geschmack mögen.
