These are durable for the price and can easily be used for 2 or 3 years. Other tags become brittle and snap after a season in the sun, but not these. The worse that happens is they bend over in the extreme heat we have, but otherwise they hold up well. If you write with gardeners pens or pencils/wax pencils, the label remains readable for years.

I have been using these stakes for my seedlings for years and am about to order another box. What does 'weatherproof' mean for a plastic tag? It doesn't melt in the rain, shrivel in the sun/heat, and white tags don't fade. Might blow away with hurricane winds though. Some reviews say the writing fades - that is not a problem with the tag but with the marker used. I've used Artline Garden Markers, 0.8 mm Writing Width, Black, 12 Pack (EK-780) - available from Amazon - fine point and much more durable than Sharpie. The writing stays legible for several years, even in Carolina coastal sun and heat, and the tags themselves last until I accidentally step on them and break them. Both good products.

These have a good thickness. Not flimsy at all. Great for little pots of plants

The price is maybe the lowest around. These are lightly textured PVC, I would prefer smooth. So don't expect a really nice writing surface, because it's a little rough.4" is great for many applications. But I'd prefer 5 inches because I battle squirrels who like to dig in pots and toss the tags aside. A 5" tag would likely do a better job. When marking the tags don't use indelible marker, such as a Sharpie if you need your label to last more than a year out doors. Use a pencil or grease pen instead. Pencil lasts far longer than a Sharpie. Sharpie becomes unreadable after a year in the weather of the Pacific Northwest. The box that the labels come in is nice and compact. Its great for storage inside. But because it's cardboard, so you might not want to haul the box into the field on a rainy day.

Perfect little tags.We used the. For our seed starts this year and they were the perfect size that did not get in the way and the writing lasted all season

Could be I am using the wrong thing, but this will NOT retain Sharpie ink. It fades and completely disappears within a month or two. Not sure what the solution is, but I will have to investigate!

borderline too short, barely enough space to write cultivar names with a regular sharpiecheap option, works fine for nursery sales, young plant starts. would not suggest using these as long term markers as they fade quick in weather and get lost in mulch easily
