I got the 16 inch long because of the dishwasher overflow. You have to measure the space between and line it up to the middle of the faucet. When I line from the Overflow to the middle of the faucet. was 8" so I double and ended up with 16". Just gave me less than a 1/4" space between the mat and the dishwasher overflow. Trimming the neck was easy. Once I established what I need it I just cut with the scissors just to start it and I pulled it apart just like it was string cheese. I just installed the new faucet and a water filter (Prime Day), You really can't use the splash guards on top of the 3-hole plate cover. It just doesn't sit right. So I got rid of the plate. I bought sinkhole covers to fill in the two holes. With this mat you probably don't even need them since it does cover the whole area.

My faucet has a 2 inch base. This mat has concentric circles that can be cut to fit various size faucets, including my 2 inch faucet. It is surprisingly easy to cut. It is not real easy to cut neatly. I started with scissors, but cutting circles is difficult. After cutting, I used a box cutter to neaten the circle. I would recommend using an x-acto knife.Also, this mat is deeper than my counter behind the faucet. Fortunately, this mat is made to bend at exactly the right depth to accommodate my situation.

No matter what we did and how much caulk we used, they water would always somehow seem to get behind the sink and leak down and ruin the caulk. This has been a lifesaver to keep the water drained down and off the back of the wall!Easy to install! Just cut inside lip to fit around your sink head tightly.
