This is the one beater that didn't come with my new Kitchen Aid Artisan mini. It fits perfectly and works like a charm!

This is a useless item in several aspects. Kitchenaid should listen to its customers. The flat beater should be included with the product and make this like those flat beaters that come in 4.5 and 5 qt beaters that have the inside bars to allow full mixing of the ingredients. There should be no reason for one to buy a flat beater. Let money go towards buying the flex beater as an add-on. That all being said, either beater doesn't allow the batter to mixed. It throws it to the sides of the bowl like spacke-for lack of a better word. The flex beater is just as useless. It doesn't incorporate the mixture. It only smoothes out the mixture that's already on the sides of the bowl. At the same time, one should not have to continually change the beaters to do their job and scrape the bowl. Personally, I don't have any use for the flex beater. Reviews I have read also talk about this. One always hopes for the best and even think that they will be the one with a different outcome with an excellent product. Not here.

I have gone through two of these and both times the paint has begun to chip off the beater and into our food. Not cool. They really need to make an uncoated option for this size of mixer!!

Why did KitchenAid change this paddle for the mini? It mixes nothing, just collects and needs constant scraping. AND, there are almost no paddles or bowls for the mini!! I would NEVER have purchased this expensive machine for its size if I had known Kitchenaid would leave us out!! I would have kept my wonderful full-size, 30-year-old mixer which my daughter now has!!
