These pliers, made in Germany, cost more and do a substantially better job than the ones made in China that I had to return. You get what you pay for! Dealing with 3/8" hog rings is still a challenge, though, because of their small size, but these pliers allowed me to install some 200 rings connecting two 4' sheets of weld-mesh on my deer fence, without too much trouble.

If you know Knipex tools; this one will bring you joy and not let you down. Ergonomics is excellent, the grove to hold the rings are well done, and it takes no effort to complete close the ring.

I purchased this tool to upgrade the upholstery in my car. Even though I only intended to use it for a single project, I didn’t really want to find out if the cheap tools are in fact as junky as they look in pictures.Overall it feels sturdy and it opens and closes very smoothly. The jaws have grooves that hold the C ring in place. The spring pulls the jaws together, and the combination of the grooves and the spring means the ring is held securely. This was especially helpful when I was maneuvering into the recesses of the foam seat cushions to try to hook an open end of a ring underneath the attachment wire before crimping. There were a few tight spots where I was able to hold the tool by only one of its handles to get into position and the ring still stayed securely in the jaws. Very nice indeed.Crimping felt completely solid, even when squeezing with both hands to get the crimp as tight as possible. All of the crimps I made turned out right the first time and I was very pleased that I didn't have to redo a single one. As you’d expect for a reputable brand tool at this price point, after 170+ rings it still works and feels brand new. This feels like a tool that would hold up well under regular use.Who knows, maybe one of the cheap ones wouldn’t actually have bent in half after 3 crimps. In any case, this tool worked great and I’m quite satisfied that it was money well-spent.For reference, the C rings in the picture are Honda OEM C-clips.

Knipex is always a good bet when shopping for pliers and these are no exception, they hold the ring with spring tension enough to place it where needed and then you can squeeze to secure. Works perfect.

I've done many seat covers in my Turo rental fleet with the old style pliers and it takes so long because you have to hold the hog ring in place. The spring on these pliers holds the ring which makes the job so much faster and saves your hand from getting sore. I recommend these pliers 100 percent.

Really sturdy plier. Easy to use, not much effort. Quality feel gives confidence. Consistent and good crimp each time. Best thing is the long nose reaches into tight space on the Subaru Outback upholstery. I can't imagine doing it with other stubby one. This is my first time doing upholstery, and am glad I paid more to get a quality plier.

Indispensable for any hog ring work! I’m not sure how anyone does good work without these. Get them and you’ll never look at a worn drivers seat as an impossible task. This makes it so much faster once you get the hang of it: **crimp the open side of the hog rings towards you**
