These are actually playable by adults in a musical sense! Only the smallest one sounds more toy-like, but I find that it still has a place in my music creation. The larger ones are extremely pleasing and meditative to play, which is just what I was hoping for - it's a nice set of drums to have while I try to make my own shaman drum.The finish isn't the greatest - expect paint in places it shouldn't be - and the mallets are all just WOOD (I will be modifying some of them to have different surfaces). Seems like it will be easy enough to replace heads if/when they break, as the frames are actually wood, at which point I will replace the rather cheap ribbon that's glued on these. The frames have plenty of space for customization, if desired, and the heads look like they would be fun to paint.
