  • INCLUDES A HARDWOOD BEATER | We provide you with a quality hardwood beater with every Bodhrán you buy. authentic traditional Irish instrument.
  • GOAT SKIN HEAD | Bodhrán head is made from real goatskin. The Walton Bodhrán head has been much improved over the years. With many different varieties and ply’s to the different sizes, the skin head of the Walton Bodhrán is a 2 ply goat skin with choice selected goatskin.
  • QUALITY YOU CAN TRUST | The Bodhrán is an authentic traditional Irish instrument. We use higher quality wood which creates a much deeper and robust sounding Bodhrán gives you even more tone possibilities. Walton’s Bodhrán are incredibly fun to play and provide many tonal qualities that you just cannot get from any other drum!

Walton’s traditional Irish bodhráns are made from genuine goatskin. As goatskin is a natural material it can vary in color and texture. Over time, and with use, the design applique on the face of your bodhrán can begin to separate from the fibres of the goatskin and may flake off. The design on the bodhrán head can be preserved for an extended period of time with the use of the ‘Walton’s Bodhrán Care Cream’. Walton’s range of decorated bodhráns offers customers a chance to become familiar with the ancient drum for a fraction of the usual cost. Our bodhráns are intended for use by beginner players, or as a beautiful decorative piece for your home.

This Walton’s bodhran is an extremely well built drum.It has a 2-ply goatskin head. I bought the non-tunable model. The head is affected by temperature and humidity levels. This is normal and expected for this type of head. You “tune” the drum by adding moisture to lower the pitch and removing moisture with a hair dryer. When I got the drum the head was tight. I added like a teaspoon of water to the back of the head and rubbed it in all over. Over the next few minutes the head lowered its pitch. The drum has a wonderful sound to it. The cross bar is great for holding the drum. I can play it sitting down or standing up.The seller All Things Irish is very responsive. I had a question and they responded and resolved the question to my satisfaction very quickly.I would buy from them again.

These bodhrans are fairly large drums… But not too heavy. They are colorful, and easy for me to pick up and play even though I don’t know what I’m doing! I love the Celtic design on all three of the drums I purchased!I have some relatives with children and they will certainly enjoy these drums, but I’m going have to watch the kids to make surethey play carefully. I don’t want a drum with a hole in it, so they are going to have to learn how to roll the little “stick” that comes with each drum rather than beat my drums to death! If they do it right, the sound won’t hurt my eardrums either! : )

The thickness and diameter give this drum a deeper resonance. My first bodhran had a a crossbar which I found more comfortable to hold but this bodhran is very well constructed. The Brosna Cross design is beautiful and one of the best of all offered in my opinion. I play along to all my recorded Celtic music and it's great fun!

I bought this for my professional drummer husband for when he needs a tribal sound and he loves it. It has such a rich sound and it's beautiful! I also bought another drum from Meinl but honestly, it has a tinny sound. I think the goat skin makes a difference. You can't tune it, no but I think that's going to be ok.

The wood frame is a nicely built and finish is smooth. The tipper is subpar however if you have a lath or a friend who does a tipper is fairly simple to make.

I was recently in Ireland and had a lesson on playing the Bodhran and really enjoyed it. I didn't buy one while I was in the country because of room in my luggage, so I decided to order one when I got home. I received this instrument in great condition and am looking forward to learning more and playing it.I had a slight hiccup with not receiving everything shown in the picture (the case and the DVD) but the seller was very easy to work with and, after a little investigation on their side, was able to rectify the situation.I am very happy with the quality of this purchase and am thinking of getting one for my nephew for the holidays as well.

I purchased this drum as a gift for one on my granddaughters who is musically inclined. She loves it and said the design on the drum head is "badass". I can't comment on the quality of the tone as I am not musically inclined (I can barely play a stereo).
