  • Clip On Contact Microphone for Tuners

Directly capture the sound of your instrument in style! The Korg CM-200 is a piezo clip-on microphone that's designed especially for tuners. The Korg CM-200 is a contact microphone that can be attached to the bell of a brass instrument, the bridge of a violin, or even to a guitar or ukulele. The microphone uses a piezo element to directly capture the vibrations and send them to your tuner. The CM-200 is an indispensable item in situations where the mic built into your tuner might have difficulty detecting the sound of your instrument, such as when you're practicing with an entire brass band. Compared to its predecessor, the CM-200 features a fresh appearance with a sharper design. The functionality of the microphone has also been improved. The cable now transmits sound more efficiently, and is more flexible. The connection between the mic and cable has been made more durable, reducing the possibility of breakage. The clip opens up 7 mm wider than the previous model, providing more space to attach to your instrument. The rubber inside the clip has been redesigned to provide a better fit so that it can be securely attached.

I purchased this for my son who wanted to experiment with amplifying instruments and objects other than those previously electrified. While it's hard to determine whether the results are hi-fi, lo-fi or somewhere in the middle given some of the things we've connected it to ( door handles, pillows, drinking glasses, etc. ), I cannot fault the amount of clear sound coming from the amp.The only problem I have with this product is that the cord is quite short and if you want to connect to a sound source that is more than a foot away from your amp you will have to purchase an additional cord with one male 1/4" plug and a female 1/4" jack. I did purchase such a cord ( for about ten dollars ) and the mobility problem was solved.Would I recommend this device for the gigging or bedroom acoustic musician as a contact pickup? No. But for the adventurous musician or sound-seeker looking to find and amplify vibrations from random objects without having to set up mics and mic stands, then I say the Korg CM-200-BKRD is indispensable! The price is very reasonable, the clip secure and the results excellent.

I bought this to use during orchestra practice when other instruments are warming up. This worked wonderfully on my flute when placed on the head joint. I was able to tune both my flute and piccolo while quite a few other instruments were also attempting to tune and warm up. I highly recommend getting this in addition to your Korg tuner or metro tuner.

I bought this mostly for tuning a 31-string lever harp. There is no where to use a clip-on tuner (like a Snark) on the front of my particular harp, so I got this, to attach to the back of the harp, but run the cable to my Korg CA-30 tuner. All the pitches on my harp fall within this range. However, the tuner doesn't pick up the lowest 4 notes or the highest 3 notes on my harp, when using this clip-on contact mic. When I remove the contact mic and just use the Korg without it, it easily picks up those strings. I'm not sure why the contact mic doesn't get anything from the lowest and highest notes on my harp? I definitely need a contact mic, so I can tune while other people are playing music nearby.

Necessary adjunct to your Korg tuner, and more.I had one of these before, but the coating on the wire cracked at the entrance to the clip. This one is much more robust, reinforced with extra rubber at both connection ends.If you are in orchestra, or need to tune where others are making sounds, this item is necessary for the tuner to hear just you.You can also clip it on your instrument and use the recorder function on your TMR-50, or you can plug it into an amplifier in lieu of a pick-up. Please bear in mind that I am very new to using an amplifier, so I'm not saying it is ideal for that use because I don't know for a fact, but it does work. You can also put an adapter on it and use it in a 3.5mm receptacle, including your smartphone, iPod, or iPad. Again, I am not an expert on this, but I have used it that way so it does work.

This unit is designed well and flat out works, both when I plug it into my boom box's 1/4" mic jack AND with the Korg tuner for which it is designed. I mount it on an alto sax. It does not slide around, when properly attached, like its competitors. It can be stored in the accessories compartment of your alto sax case without a problem as it's quite small when folded. The only downside I found it since it picks up vibrations rather than sound transmitted by air, you hear the clacking of the sax keys over the amplifier. For that reason, it's no substitute for a quality sax microphone. It's fine for practice, however--especially while listening to youtube sax riffs over the same boombox. I highly recommend this accessory and would buy it again, at least for brass instruments. I don't know that it would be my choice for stringed instruments.

Excellent for use with chromatic tuners and instruments in a noisy environment. For example, tuning before rehearsal or a performance when other musicians are playing. This clip-on microphone is much better built than some other clip-on mics that I have used. This includes a heavy gauge cord and nice strain relief by the plug and the microphone ends. Also the clip has a rubber cushion that protects instruments from damage and is more durable than the foam rubber used on some clip-on mics. Finally, the spring is strong so the mic clips securely onto your instrument.Excellent product!

It is ok, in it's own right in picking up and sending the sound to the amplifyer, however, it is not easy to fit to the body of a high-value classical guitar.... There is one large opening and my fingers compete with the appliance. Not ideal !
