The replacement of the Fuel Sender on a 1994 Seaswirl 195SWL.The original pivot-arm sender was not showing any movement at a ¼ tank indicated, which made me suspect it was failing. I replaced it with a Kus-brand 175mm 240-33ohm Sender. This rod-style has the advantage of keeping the signal voltage inside a sealed Stainless Steel tube. I believe this is inherently safer and the sender should have an extremely long life. Per the company's recommendation for plastic tanks, you should select a tube that has 1" of clearance to the bottom of the tank, and the next size up would have zero clearance. Because of this clearance, this gauge reads empty when the tank still has fuel remaining. The original pivot-arm style gives a continuously-variable fuel-gauge reading, but the rod style only gives ten step-function readings, which is not as good. Those readings with the OMC System-match fuel gauge are: Full + Full - 3/4 + 5/8 + 5/8 - 1/2 + 1/2 - 3/8 + 3/8 - EmptyIn the second photo, please note that the five bolt-holes are clocked so you need to align the small nub on the gasket with the sender's wiring harness.I did use the gasket as a template so I could find the required clocked orientation which the sender needs for installation. I used the original five screws to install the sender, as I preferred having a compact ¼"-drive socket to tighten the sender down. The unit comes with Phillips Head screws.

Surprising how well made this fuel gauge sender is constructed. The resistance gradually decreases as the float rises on the post. This indicates a full swing of empty to full on the gauge. Will buy again. Be sure to convert the millimeters to inches for a correct fit.

Unit is very nicely made, and appears to be high quality. I purchased the 12" model.From testing resistance with my meter, the reed switches inside the tube are probably about 1" apart from each other. The problem is this: When the float is about 1.5" from the bottom (empty), the resistance is 140 Ohms. When it drops another 1/2", it goes straight to 240 Ohms. No step in between. On the gauge, it goes from 1/2 tank to empty in one step. This is particularly bad because you then have no idea how much fuel is really left. I will be returning this item.
