The sound is great, but be weary of the stick that you beat it with, because of the smaller size, a stick that is not dense enough takes the bongo bell "umph" out of it. I have had it for a few months now, but now that I have used it quite a bit, I find myself having to scrub this cowbell once a month with lime and baking soda to keep it from getting to rusty. Yes-- actual rust-- this cowbells tends to corrode, and it is saddening every time it happens. As for the appearance, I was a little thrown off by welding. The welding is located smack dab in the center of on of the play faces instead of being located on the cowbell's edge(s) like most other cowbells. This renders one of the playing sides completely useless because the welding surface distorts the sound too much. Personally, I would go with a trusted E-3 over of this newer E-13 model.
