It's important to know what you are after. As part of a full kit of udu drums, this is great. It will not likely satisfy people as a single drum. Better to buy a larger or multi playing surface drum for that. But as part of a kit of them, it satisfies the higher pitched portion missing from the larger drums. Highly recommended in that setting. Very pleased.

Wenn man auf so sounds steht wie der einer indischen Tabla, dann kommt man um einen Udu nicht herum. Es gibt leider nicht eine so große Auswahl an Geräten oder Herstellern, so beschränkt man sich auf das, was da ist. Namentlich hier nicht erwähnt ein recht guter Hersteller, von dem ich schon zwei hab. Dann eben der hier mit etwas hellerem Tac... nicht schrill, aber hell genug zum Kontrast gegen den dunklen Dum, der eben einer Baß-Tabla gleicht, die man mit wischendem Handballen spielt... Baung... Gut gearbeitet, mit einem kleinen Loch für ein Mic-Kabel zum Inside-Abnehmen... mit Knetmasse dicht bei Nicht-Gebrauch. Die Knete hält dann auch das Kabel fest, damit es nicht rein- oder rausrutscht beim Spielen und Bewegen. Der Udu ist ein Instrument, das Bewegung fordert :-) Ich mag den Udu... archaisch, urtümlich, geil !

ottimo materiale, resistente ma sonoro anche se non amplificato, per esibizioni cameristiche da solista.molto ergonomico, suggerisce molte soluzioni percussive esplorative, tipo l'esecuzione a 45 gradio con il collo in verticale, assestando il tamburo mediante i colpi stessi eseguiti.

Habe mir bereits vor Jahren eine tönerne Udu zugelegt. Wollte meine Percussion-Kollektion nun vergrößern. Der klangliche Vergleich hat allerdings ergeben, dass dieses Instrument einige Schwachpunkte hat. Zum ersten, müsste die Wandstärke um einiges dünner sein um einen lauteren Klang erzeugen zu können. Weiters wäre ein ebener unterer Abschluss von Vorteil um eine weitere Klangdimension zu erhalten. Ansonsten ist es gut verarbeitet und macht einen stabilen Eindruck. Das Loch für ein Mikrofonkabel ist zwar vorhanden, das Anbringen eines innenliegnden Mikrofons allerdings problematisch. Aber externe Mikros tun es auch.
