This Udu has nice high crisp ceramic slap tones coupled with good resonant deep tones that are easy to vary. It is fairly heavy, but just the right size to fit on your lap. It's weight helps to keep it firmly planted on your lap while paying. It's good looking, and attractive to have out on it's stand as a cool accent to your decor when not being played. I record it with an external mic, but it has provision for an internal mic via a small matching plug that can be removed for mic cable access. Very nice instrument that produces just the right amount of volume to match an acoustic guitar.

I have not yet used this for any serious demonstrations or performances, but I am immensely pleased with the size and the tone of this "percussion instrument". I have seen Latin percussionists, but I have never seen this instrument before

I love these Udo drums from LP , The C-2 model is just right not to big and not to small , it's just right !

Lots of fun to play, and even more fun if you mic it. It’s also an interesting conversation piece. The bass hole is quite responsive and sounds great (better than my Meinl “Ibo†variant, IMO). The only drawback is that the clay on this udu is pretty thick, so it’s very quiet and you have to use some force (or a mic) to get much sound out of the clay surfaces.

The coating has already come off in a spot close to the hole meant for a microphone. There is a sticky plug for this hole and when I removed the plug, the painted coating came off as well. Also it is made out of very thick material which impedes the sound.

The multi-tonal aspect of the Udu make it a very desirable addition to Kirtan and folk ensembles.

I am very happy with this deal. The drum itself is very good. It was sold as used with cosmetic marks but I could not find any, it looks and sounds as good as new. Imcould quibble about the delivery, there was no indication as to when it would arrive but that really is a minor point. Highly recommended.
