I ordered this and another live center from Amazon recently only to find they were the wrong size. The mistake was mine - the one redeeming factor was that returning them was a snap! I wish all Internet business was this simple. The quality and price of the live center was excellent. I bought the same product in a different size from another vendor and had to pay more to get it.

I built a spring pole lathe and bought two of these live cup centers to provide easy, smooth action. My lathe works great, and so far I have not had any problems at all with seizing, wobbling, noise or any other center-related issues. Both centers I received are exactly as pictured/listed here, the bearings work like a charm, and I have been 100% satisfied with their performance.

I got this to use on my Shopsmith Lathe becuase the Shopsmith brand live center is way more expensive. I've used it several times and it has performed well. I was having issues with my dead center burning the end of the wood as it turned and this eliminated that. However, one thing I noticed is how "fat" the spike is on the center itself. This makes it a bit harder to get it to stick into the wood. Overall it is a very nice live center for the price.

I had always turned wood with a dead center and thought to myself that I would love to have a live center. It does the job nicely and has all the accuracy that I need for my occasional turning.

Real good qualityGreat fit in my Rockwell 46-140 (11â€) wood lathe which has a #1MT tail stock dead center that burn smokes the wood your turning. Not anymore with this live center!

After reading previous reviews about the quality of the bearings on live centers (I bought 3 different live centers at once from PSI), the first thing I did was just turn it by hand. Amazing how this could have left China never mind PSI... it was junk. The bearing just crunched (for want of a better word) as it turned. Since I live in Philly and so are they, and I didnt want to send back in the post for a replacement and get another one also of dubious quality, I drove round to their place and got it replaced and tested before I left the building. Me and the guy who I was dealing with went through at least 5 others before I came across a good one.I would have given this product 1 star, but because PSI was accomodating in replacing it with a decent one, I give 3.I would have replaced the bearing myself but it looked too much of a challenge.
