These are a must if you hav3 young children or are a landlord. It's important to know the danger level of chipped paint.

Giving this one less star because the entire tip does not turn to the "burnt mustard color" when putting into water - thus you have to be careful to find a location where it does change to the proper color before rubbing onto the wall so you know if the color changed or not. I have used other products with the same issue however, so it isn't just this item. I would buy again though - you tend to use more of these than you might otherwise think to make sure you capture all locations. I found some stained wood in a basement that tested positive, only to determine that it was back when they used lead in wood stain - so it wasn't harmful (i.e. no chips to ingest) but it tested positive until I put a polyurethane coating over top to seal it.

I needed to test for lead in an older set of Corelle Country Cottage plates and bowls. Used these and these picked up trace amounts in most of them. It was pretty easy to use and I just was looking for lead, I didn't care how much (or else I would have gotten an electronic reader that are more accurate). Good value, though if you have a lot of things to test, you will need multiple sets. Recommended.
