This great little pounding bench is great for developing your little one's hand-eye coordination. Our grandson loves the one we ordered! His mother is in early childhood education, so she would tell you all about the colors, shapes, and numbers on this thing. Personally, I don't think Monkey Child cares about that. He just likes smacking the bejeebers out of this bench! One of the things I love about it is that there are only two pieces--the mallet and the bench. I mean, there are lots of pieces in that each peg pounds freely. But, each peg has a stopper on both ends. Pound it all the way down, then flip it over and pound it the other direction. Even though technically each peg is a separate piece, the whole bench and all the pegs are really all one piece. The pegs won't pop out no matter how much your little person pounds them. Nothing to lose, and no worries about choking hazards. This toy is made of quality materials and should last through multiple children. Pass it on to younger siblings, or sell it at a children's consignment store once your're done.

The seaside pounding bench toy is very cute and super well made. I love that the pegs don't come out either side, so it doesn't have a lot of pieces to keep track of. The pegs have numbers on one side and images on the other. The one thing that I don't like is that because the toy flips, in order to keep the numbers and images in order, they don't match up by color when you flip it. For example, on the image side the yellow peg has one umbrella and the blue peg has two shovels. When you flip it the blue peg has the number 1 and the yellow peg has the number 2. Maybe that's not a big deal, and it can't really be prevented without pegs that come all the way out.Overall, very cute, fun toy!

Okay--kids LOVE hammer toys like this. But my problem is that the ones with the pegs have so many pieces that get lost constantly. This pounding bench solves that problem by making the pegs unable to be removed from the board. Finally!!

We have 6 kids and they all enjoyed pounding things when they were toddlers. Unfortunately it was usually with our TV remote, our silverware on our wood dining table or their sippy cup against our windows! So if you need to satisfy the pounding urge this might work. There is not a lot to it however, numbers on one side and some beach objects to count on the other. The "hammer" is very lightweight and small, so even for toddlers it's a bit difficult to grip and actually move the pegs. No noise, no lights, which is fine, but I think it would hold a toddlers attention for only a brief period of time, and only if helped out by a caregiver. Then there is the "storage factor'. For us this would take up more space in the toy room than it's worth. But if you know all this going in to the purchase, this might work just fine for your little ones.

Got this Learning Resources Seaside Pounding Bench for my granddaughter. Very simple toy but fun for little ones. All it is, a small bench with beach themed pegs on one side, the other side numbers, and a small "hammer/mallet". My granddaughter likes beating one side down/in and flipping it over to pound away again. She doesn't understand the numbers printed on it yet, but she likes beating on stuff. This simple toy can be past on to the next little one down the line for them to have fun beating away at it, too. Little ones enjoy it and don't wanna share it. Would recommend.

So i thought my 3yr son would be to big for this however he played with it for like an hour straight. He does like to bang things I think this toy is more appropriate for a younger child many 9 months to 18months to learn coordination and you can play and teach them numbers and colors.

When I took the toy out of the box, some of the stickers had already came off. The hammer was not very durable.
