Out of the box the finish on the inside edges of the tines is like 80 or 100 grit sandpaper. This make it very difficult to hammer in and pull the leather off. Even using a pulling tool to protect the leather, the roughness would pull up the edges of the hole. The larges chisel was so hard to remove I had to use all my strength and nearly couldn't, I know I would get tired punching multiple holes that way.The steel is soft and I was able to use a nail e-file and old diamond bits to polish the tines. I'm sure a dremel could do similar, but e-file has smaller bits and the finish they leave is smoother because they are normally used to smooth acrylic nails. After all of that and using scrap leather with polish compound to polish the tines further, the chisel became usable. The metal is soft, so I don't expect this to last and can't handle abuse. However, for the price, if you already have the tools and willing to spend the time, it can work. If I wasn't budget restrained I would have bought from a brand that is reputable right out of the gate since this is a kind of tool that would be used all the time. Unfortunately I didn't and had to go with the cheapest until I can upgrade. The 5mm was the same experience and also required shaping and smoothing.

Poor polishing, not sharpen, does not look durable.
