I needed a replacement for my rock tumbler. This is a little different than what came with the device. It has a almost clear base. Actually I found that pretty cool. The material is different, so I'm not sure how it will last long term, but the canisters I had gotten with the new machine only lasted a little over a year, so far I've run this canister a month and it is perfect. The parts fit tight, and are interchangeable with the original canisters for the product.

I bought this to use as a replacement for my 3 lb barrel in my Harbor Freight rock tumbler. It works well and I honestly prefer it over the ones that came with my tumbler. Great product

Right out of the box this works great with my Lortone 3A- I’ve seen many claims that you can only use Lortone barrels with Lortone tumblers because of the special grooved nut, but that’s simply untrue. This one rides on the other side of the bracket and the barrel doesn’t wander or bind up. As long as your tumbler is on a level surface it should be fine, but if it does wander, I’m betting a lump of Thermoloc on the knob with a groove pressed in to mimic the original Lortone nut will do the trick. Nothing against Lortone, they make excellent products that are worth the money, but the price difference was the difference between being able to replace my barrel or being unable to use the tumbler for a while- which would only leave me less able to afford a new one.My one issue is that the free gift of walnut shell polishing media, while generous and probably very welcome to many buyers, poses a serious danger to people like me with nut allergies. It’s not just eating them that can kill us- for some, just touching the residue from them or breathing a speck of dust can do it. The package seems well sealed, but it’s a heck of a chance to take. There are so many other types of media they could choose to give away which don’t contain such a common and lethal allergen… switch to that, Leegol. It is a well made "heavy duty" barrel and it is kinda nice to see that the rocks are tumbling. However, it is very stiff plastic that doesn't stretch and the rubber diagram type lid is quite tight, very difficult to seat when closing. It is even harder to remove the lid for unloading. I have to put the nut back on the threaded stud and pull hard in various directions for a while until I can get an edge of the seal above the rim. This bends the aluminum disc that the stud is fixed to and I am concerned that such bending will soon cause a stress fracture. Also, I doubt the barrel will provide enough grip for a plain metal turning rod like on a Lortone tumbler. My tumbler has vinyl tubing on the rods and still I have to keep it very clean or the barrel will slip and not tumble. There is a texture in the outside of the barrel, but the plastic is too hard to grip well.

I was very disappointed when I received the tumbler barrel. It is very small compared to the one I have. It falls through the rails on my tumbler. The first time I used it I couldn't open it to get the rocks out. I ended up having to pry the top off, ruining it in the process, rendering it useless. I can't believe I paid over $25 for this little barrel. It's about the size of a one pound coffee can. Not at all what I expected or wanted. If there was minus stars I would have rated it -5. Not worth the price.
