Works just as they say. I boil carrots and potatoes together in the pot. Then rice them. Flavor and texture over the top.

I've been through several ricers, they all keep failing in use from not being made strong enough. A little too much pressure and the handles fail. I was looking for a different style and decided to give this unit a try.I've been impressed with the quality of the construction. The handle is strong and comfortable, and one nice little trick is that there's a piece of metal that sticks up that limits the travel of the handle so you can only apply so much force at the end, which should help extend its life. It made nice fluffy potatoes, just be sure they're well cooked and preferable remove the skins before ricing as they plug up the holes.It is a bit of a pain to clean. It does come apart by pulling the pin that holds the two pieces together and that helps, but it's still no fun to clean up. The other issue is that getting it back together is a bit tricky as the pin is a little crooked and doesn't want to go through the second hole to get it back together, it takes a bit of fiddling. All in all though the best inexpensive ricer I've found.

Finally, a manual ricer that works well! Love it. It actually holds more than your typical cylindrical type.

I couldn’t believe how hard it was to use. I mean all of my strength that I couldn’t even get it to slightly close. We just have half a potato in there. My husband also tried to use it and he’s actually very buff and with his strong arms he still couldn’t get it to close either or get the potato to come out.Then I tried again and CRACK!! It broke
