How to Clean a Clarinet: Disassembling the clarinet
Separate the clarinet into five sections, the mouthpiece (ligature, reed), barrel, left hand body section, right hand body section and bell. Be sure not to bend the keys while taking the clarinet apart. Place each piece in a safe place where it will not be damaged.

How to Clean a Clarinet: Cleaning the clarinet sections
- Remove the reed and ligature from the mouthpiece. Store the reed in the reed holder (reed case) to dry.
- Use the micro-fiber cleaning cloth to clean the ligature and key work and to wipe your fingerprints off. Pay close attention to the tone holes which your fingers cover as they may collect grime and gunk from fingers.
- Wipe the exterior of the sections with the micro-fiber cleaning cloth.

How to Clean a Clarinet: Cleaning the clarinet sections
- Clean the bore of the clarinet with the micro-fiber cleaning swab. It will dry the moisture from the inside of the barrel, body sections and the bell.
- Clean the tenons with the micro-fiber cloth.
- Clean the bore of the mouthpiece with a mouthpiece brush and warm water. Then dry with the micro-fiber cloth.

How to Clean a Clarinet: Cleaning the clarinet sections
- Use the duster brush to remove residue and dirt from hard-to-reach areas, for example, key posts, springs and under key rods on your instrument.
- Apply cork grease sparingly to the tenon corks. You could grease the corks by rubbing cork grease on them with your fingers. Please note only apply cork grease when the clarinet is hard to assemble. Too much cork grease can damage the tenon corks. You might need to grease the cork more often in the dry winter months.
- Slide the thumb rest cushion over your clarinet thumb rest to add a bit of comfort.
- After cleaning, return the clarinet to the instrument case.
