About this item

  • High Contrast Linear Polarizing Film
  • High Transmission of Unpolarized Light from 400 – 700nm
  • Excellent Extinction Ratio
  • Available in Various Sheet Sizes for your Customized Use
  • Great for experiments and learning Physics. The sheet is 0.2mm thick and 8.3" X 5.8" (21.0cm x 14.8cm), IMPORTANT(!) please note that on both sides there is a protective film sheet. You have to remove it gently before use. Once removed, the polarizer sheet will be revealed, clean and smooth.

High Contrast Linear Polarizing Film featuring excellent extinction ratio and high transmission. Ideal for a range of imaging applications, teaching experiments and more. Available in sheets, can be easily cut with scissors to fit any application need. Linear Polarizing sheets are used in experiments relating to birefringence, light scattering, polarized light experiments, light reflection, Brewster's angle and how polarized sunglasses work. IMPORTANT(!) please note that on both sides there is a protective film sheet. You have to remove it gently before use. Once removed, the polarizer sheet will be revealed, clean and smooth. Common uses: 1. Get two of these (or cut one in half) for an excellent classroom demonstration of aligned and crossed polarization filters. Aligned, two pieces have about the same effect on unpolarized light as one piece. Rotate them and at 90 degrees, no light passes through (quite black). 2. Great for taking the glare off tattoos for photos 3. Use this to dim a LCD screen that has no brightness adjustment option 4. Cut down the glare paintings while photographing. 5. Use this sheet to modify your microscope and polarize tissues. 6. Use the polarizer to remove flash. 7. Use the polarized sheet for our security camera that's facing out a window to remove the glare off the footage 8. This is being used to control/minimize specular highlights in a photography application.

Works as I had hope it would. Which is to say it is excellent! I have not installed it correctly yet. Rather I just crammed it up between the Tapo C120 camera and its window mount reflection cover. This 10 second installation and screen shot test allows one to see some of the reflections from my blinds that show on the camera despite having a mount that blocks a lot of it. See the arrows for day, and night screen shots on home this film improves on picture quality by reflection reduction/removal. The arrows shows where the Linear Polarization film cut off point is where it's not fully covering all the cameras field of view. This allows a great illustration of the film removing the blinds reflections. I will be cutting the film to fit within the window mount properly to improve the films effectiveness even more. The size of the included film should be enough to do 2 to 5 cameras depending on the camera and way it is mounted. I can easily recommend this Linear Polarization film to anyone with cameras mounted to reflective glass or any camera that is showing excessive reflections. The rest of the pictures shows the window mount for the Tapo C120 and camera to give some idea of how my setup on this one installation is done. The last picture shows how the camera and window mount look on am actual window minus the film. The sheet of Linear Polarization film is crammed in between the black mount and window temporally. This is not showing as it is not how the final installation will look. Both the window mount, and Tapo C120 camera were purchased from Amazon if anyone is interested in reproducing this setup.5 stars for this film's effectiveness at reducing reflection on cameras, and its relatively cheap price!

I tried buying multiple camera polarizing filters for a physics experiment I wanted to perform but they didn't actually work properly. This product had a greater amount of polarizing surface, and it cost much less, and most importantly it actually functions as expected! Great product. Exactly what I needed.

My boat Yamaha gage's were faded and difficult to read. After finding out how to fix them DYI, I needed new film as that is usually the problem with fading.Worked well just make sure you use the correct side of the sheet

Optically crisp, I cut it into 10cm squares for a photography class and it worked great with cell phone cameras

Works somewhat better after removing the protective film.

This was purchased for a science lesson on optics. It performed exactly as needed. On a sunny day we could look out the classroom window at a parked car. Without the filter you can only see glare from the windshield of the car. With the filter at just the right angle you can see into the car. Perfect. Simple need, simple solution.

I bought this to put on my webcam to take the glare off of my glasses. It worked like a charm.

Not the highest quality. The substrate is a bit "wiggly" in its flatness, and not uniformly thick nor flat. So, optically -- for imaging -- it does not and cannot perform well. But testing the sheet with another crossed-polarizer shows that the polarization of the sheet is "about uniform" over all its area, giving uniform and near-total extinction, so that aspect is OK. This material is NOT up to, say, Kodak quality, or any other USA or European maker's quality. As such, it thus appears to me to be over-priced. Go for better, if you need to, and if you can afford it. If you're not imaging through it, but just using it as a filter to produce a beam or flood of linearly-polarized light, this may be OK for the purpose.
