This is a nice tool--extremely simple but very effective. Unlike most spark plug wire pullers--which counter-productively squeeze the sides of the boot into the plug while attempting to pull the boot off the plug--this tool slips around behind the boot and pushes it off from the engine side. It requires very little space around the plug wire, so I was able to reach even the passenger-side plug next to the firewall on my 1995 GMC Suburban, which is very difficult to reach with any other tool.

Pulling sparkplug boots off after they have been in place for years and endured 1000's of heating cycles is no fun and can prove almost impossible to accomplish. Add to this the fact that most of the time you have to be a contortionist to get your hands down to get a good grip and you have a frustrating task to say the least. This tool gives you a far better chance to get the job done, and probably will also save the kids from having to cover their ears to protect them from all of the exclamatory bursts as dad tries to "talk the silly things off" :>) If I ever break them, which I doubt I will, as they appear to be well constructed, I will repurchase!

This tool is sold a a spark plug wire puller. It is well made and useful for many other jobs, like pulling a vacuum hose of, etc.

Did not answer "easy to remove" ... a dumb rating question. I don't need to remove my pliers.Anyway, these seem well made. If you're looking for pliers to remove wires on LS or LT engines with metal boot shields, these are a very little bit too small. The circle in the jaws needs to be a couple millimeters greater in diameter for that specifically.

My Buick with the 3.8 transverse V6 was due for spark plug replacement and the rear wires were very difficult to remove. I think they were on a long time! This tool grabbed the metal heat shields and the wires popped off without damage. These double offset spark plug boot pliers were made for this.

I replaced spark plug wires from Mercedes S430 on Bank1 without this tool and 2/8 Spark Plugs broke not to mention that it took forever to remove the wires. Then I found this tool which saved me from swearing at Mercedes Engineers on why the plugs are on the lower part of the engine. Good tool to own for this job.

Excellent tool that was very useful when changing plugs on a GM LS4 V8. Grabbed the metal shield in the grooved area, and used a thin piece of wood or pry bar (depending on what I was using to support the pry tool... ie, if against aluminum valve cover, used the wood) to help get the plug wire off the plug.

These are perfect. They have one very specific job. They are made to remove spark plug wires. They're supposed to make the job easier, without causing damage; Such as pulling the boot free while the contact sleeve remains on the plug (Ask me how I know!).They complete the taske very welll and for a very reasonable price.A 'Win' for me.
