Every component worked perfect with the exception of the easy out. It required depth to work correctly. Much to my dismay the stud was broke halfway in the hole and had to use the Lisle twist extractor kit which I ordered here too. I thought the tap was included, but was not. I didn't need it YET but would have been a great addition to a Great kit making it quite complete. I'm going to get one and have it on hand.Mine is tough because there is no room. I'm doing it in the truck. the left front top was hard. I did it with a portable drill and a right angle transmission. 1.5 hours because of space limitations. Used the lisle spiral removers below. The provided tap wouldn't grab because the remaining stud was short. The left front lower was near impossible I have a extra smaller chuck and a 3/8 to chuck adapter. I then used my 3/8 electric Husky ratchet removing all the obstacles I could ( Hoses Wire harnesses) from around the area. This was very slow drilling as you can imagine but as suggested kept removing and cleaning oiling and reinstalling, having another go. I took the drill bits and cut them 2 different lengths as it was so close and had to secure them in the chuck with the bit in the chuck with the adapter guide on the bit and wiggle it to the plate hole. Once I was in approximately 3/16 of a inch or so I was able to tap one of the spiral Lisle extractors into the stud. I used the same extractor as I did in the top one or the next size up. This took around 2, 2 1/2 hours. Make sure you chase the threads with a tap or you will fight the new studs. I used the Stainless 304 grade hardware from a guy up in Wakefield Mass from MST Metric Screw and Tool. He sells them Here in packs of 8 or 16 depending what you need. I purchased them elsewhere because of price 3 years ago and he now sells them here for around the same price. Second manifold replacement on the passanger side because I used the Dorman supplied gaskets. Do yourself a favor Use only OEM gaskets They are remarkable quality. Seeing I'm wearing out my keyboard with this review Ill add these tidbits as I've fought the fight and won. Its just time right and I'm happy to share my thoughts and knowledge. To some it may be Best to just pull the heads and replace the timing kit ' oil pump and gaskets while your in there. someone asked a question if this would work with all the studs broken. I would say its possible, but there would have to be at least one protruding. A vise grip May get it out or weld a bolt to it or pull the head and send it out, or perhaps get a used head. chances are if its that bad, you will have little choice but to take the head off. Than you could clamp this template on somehow and get the project underway.Select one stud (the flattest the better) and As indicated SLOW and STEADY! center punch your best stud, drill slow, check your centering and correct it before going forward. If you drill off the stud, your project will take a time and monetary number climb real quick or quicker than it already has. This is the twist extractor set from lisle ) Lisle 61980 Strip Screw Extract, 10 Piece) Power - Up people! remember, we can accomplish anything if we focus, be patient and be determined. RIGHT!!! go get them and this will help fight the impossible!! in my opinion... to be continued... Peace!

Ordered this after I broke off an easy out in a 5.4 driver side exhaust manifold, rear bottom one. Cleaned block and mounted unit , couldn't drill with supplied bit because broken easy out was harden steel. Removed unit and spent the morning using a Dremel with abrasive bits, diamond bits and carbide drill bits. Barely got anywhere , was ready to give up then decided to use the Dremel grout cutting carbide Burr bit , it worked wonders , cleared the broken easy out in 5 mins. I wish I had just gotten this unit to start, my advice is unless stud shows sign of moving just jump straight to drilling it out , don't bother with the supplied easy out just take your time and step up with the drill bits blowing chips out and oiling as you go. I used a Irwin tap kit that contained 3 8mm by 1.25 taps using the bottom tap last. The depth gauge is great to have. I broke 2 1/8" bit just drilling one stud , so if you have multiple studs get extra bits. The close quarters drill from harbor freight worked well for the stud I was drilling. I looked into the cheaper version and decided this one was better Saved my install

If you are doing a 5.4l exhaust manifold replacement, buy this immediately. It will help with drilling out the studs that snap off.Only complaints are related to the taps and bits. I bought upgraded taps and a ratchet adapter to make the job easier in the tight space.

Kit worked great on my 09 F350 6.8l V10. Drill bits worked like a hot knife through butter. I don't know what the other reviewers are doing but use some tap fluid or automatic transmission fluid like you should when drilling and it works flawlessly. I drilled 16 studs with this kit with everything it came with. I used one bit per size. Sill sharp. As long as you know how to actually use a drill bit you're good. 5 stars.

First of all this vehicle was extremely rusty four bolts broke off we’re actually studs I removed two of them with a welder the other two are behind the shock tower I could not get to. A right angle drill was not short enough to get behind the shock tower. So I used the right angle adapter in my right angle drill with the bits pictured they were the perfect link. Not to long according to the drill gauge included. Use some patience and ho slow I removed both studs with my own easy outs. I didn’t even try the one in the kit looked cheap. I would definitely recommend see my pictures these were the two hardest to reach on the passenger side of a 2010 3v 5.4.

The plate and component design is briliant the drill bits supplies are very low quality and the extractor is useless , should have high quality drill bits and a tap to make it a compleat set . but in general great tool .
