I find that this works great on a lightly soiled line, but if my line gets dirty and is sinking a lot, I have to wash it first, then use this. I also wish it came with instructions. I'm really not sure how much to put on the pad, whether to spread it all around the pad or make just a straight line, or what. I'm using this with Cortland 444 and Orvis Hydros HD floating lines, 2 an 5 weights.

The pond that I normally fish at is pretty dirty, so I have to clean my line every time I go fish at that location. It pulls out all the dirt. BUT I would purchase the scientific angler pads if you can, if you fish dirty water, because I prefer to have separate pads to clean.

I was pretty impressed that when applied to brand new , never used 8wt line (Rio) then amount of factory dirt it pulled off. On the 0-10 dirt scale it was a 1, but it did a good job of finding a pulling it off. As far as the sheepskin goes, it's pretty much pointless and more of a novelty item for use in applying the dressing and I'm not about to try. You're going to have to wash it immediately after use. The wood blocks (on mine) are end grain, but sealed. However you'd need 5 more coats of sealer to do a thorough job to keep moisture from wicking into the wood after a wash, so if you use it to apply the dressing, wash it immediately and let it dry out for a long time. I don't trust the adhesive between block and skin once washed and dried. Most likely contact adhesive is used and it doesn't get along with water. Sheep skin will also shrink. In the end, using the skin to APPLY is pointless. It will fall apart too soon and it's too nice to let that happen. Buuuut it's not worthless either. Apply dressing with Rio Wonder Cloth (they're machine washable), let the loon dressing dry 24 hrs and then buff off with the skin. One person reported that there are no instructions on the amount of dressing to use. Well use 5 drops and you've used a bit too much but use it anyway. But for everything else there are instructions on the bottle, package and youtube.

I clean my line after fishing very dirty water or after several clean water outings. Easy to use, seems to work fine. Can't really say if it greatly enhances the lines ability to slide though the guides but I'm sure it doesn't hinder it. Recommended!

you know your line is dirty. that water was murky or you just left your line in the garage in the dust. clean it up.
