How to Make Drying Flowers:

Flower Preservation Supplies Needed:

1. Flowers 2. Scissors 3. Airtight containers 4. Soft Brush 5. LotFancy flower drying silica gel 6. Gloves and mask (recommended)

Step 1: Pour a layer of crystals about 1.5 inches thick into an air-tight container.

Step 2: Make sure flowers are dry. Trim flower stems & insert them upright into the silica gel. Flat-faced flowers can be placed face down or long flowers can be laid on their side.

Step 3: Gently add silica gel until all the petals are fully covered while keeping the flower shape intact.

Step 4: Seal the container and store it in a cool and dry place for 3-7 days. Note: Drying time will vary depending on the type of flower.

Step 5: Once dry, gently remove each flower and shake out silica gel crystals, brush off any remaining crystals with a soft brush.

Useful Tips:

  1. Our silica gel sand is non-toxic, but we recommend wearing a mask and using gloves when handling the product. As you pour the gel into the container, avoid inhaling any fine dust that may be released.
  2. White flowers may become beige when dry, while red flowers will be darker.
  3. Dried flowers fade quickly in sunlight or extreme heat, so be sure to keep them in cool areas away from windows.

This silica dried flowers beautifully, and I finally found a silica where it doesn’t have to spend hours in the oven to be recharged. I place a small amount in the microwave for about a minute each and it is recharged and reusable. It’s this great for flowers, & it will definitely save you money & time unlike the other silicas that require hours of recharging in an oven!

My daughter caught the bouquet at a wedding reception recently and wanted to preserve the flowers. She asked me to try this kit because it came with the container and brush. I have to say, it was really easy to use and these are the results after 6 days covered in the silica. The blossoms feel completely dry but not ready to disintegrate. There were four petals that fell off when I was gently brushing off the sand, but for the most part they felt pretty stable. I didn't cover the baby's breath, I just laid it on top and it seems to have dried out well without yellowing too much. We plan to arrange them in a shadow box. The resealable bag and container make it easy to store the silica crystals for future use.

Bought this several months ago and actually forgot that I put flowers in it until I found it on the shelf. The roses and daisys help their shapes well and were nicely dried..the flowers colors were still accurate. There was no dimples on the petals that I get with bigger silicone beads. The "sand" was easy to shake off. The little brush was an added bonus. It is so easy to use. Pour a small amount in the container, arrange the flowers/leaves, add more silicone to cover them completely. Put the lid on the container and you are all set.

It has worked to perfectly preserve many flowers, although I’d admit I wish it didn’t puff up fine silica dust when poured, it makes me feel sketched out about breathing it in. Even when I pour slowly it creates a big dust cloud. But it does what it’s supposed to and the best part is being able to reuse it over and over again! Definitely worth the buck!

I have used this product multiple times and I love it! Drys out flowers really well and keeps it color. And it can be reused multiple times. A small about goes a long way!

I purchased this to try my hand at drying flowers to preserve after a family member passed away. It worked perfectly. The type of flower you use can alter the results a bit. I dried roses and some small purple filler flowers from my arrangement. The purple color stayed vibrant and they look amazing. My roses were white so I wasn’t sure how they would look but surprisingly they look great. They did turn a little but that was expected. I watched a few Utube videos on how to use the product. I used small containers with lids for the individual roses and put a few of the smaller flowers around the rose as I was filling the container. Making sure there was plenty of filler between and surrounding all the flowers and let them sit for just over a week. Slowly poured the filler off of the flowers to see my results. Pretty simple.

Tried a couple of yellow long-stem roses (sans stems) so far and they came up very nicely - excellent colour retention (over simply hanging them dry in the dark). Wish I'd had this method on hand in the past... Pleased. NOTE: Do remember to use product either outdoors or well-ventilated area, preferably with a mask on, because there's quite a bit of silica dust that clouds around when you pour the material and you don't want to join the Host of Honorees in whose memory someone else is preserving flowers sooner than you must :)

I love this product because it can be reused over and over again. You put it in the oven and it becomes dry again (and orange in color), ready to be reused. Good quality/quantity and price ratio

This stuff works SO well. Too well almost! I put a mushroom in it and it was dry as a bone in less than 48hrs. Definitely check on anything you put in it after a few days. I had some marigolds in for the recommended week and they got a bit too dry and brittle.
